MODEL HISTORY
The GLA 250 is among the more powerful “standard-model” versions of the GLA range. For many model years, it comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine producing around 224 hp (or in some markets “up to 221 hp” with mild-hybrid assistance).
As a compact luxury-SUV, the GLA 250 offers a good balance of performance, comfort, and everyday usability — automatic transmission, suitability for British roads and motorway driving, and the kind of high-spec features expected in a premium small SUV.
With AMG Line trim, the car gains a more aggressive, sporty appearance and higher-spec finishing than a basic trim.
During this first generation the GLA250 offered the compact-SUV practicality with a reasonably powerful petrol engine; the “AMG-line” package (on non-AMG models) typically meant visual/styling extras, sporty bodywork and trim
EQUIPMENT
EXTERIOR
Sporty exterior styling: AMG-style bumpers/side skirts, larger/more aggressive alloy wheels (e.g. 19-inch AMG alloy wheels instead of smaller wheels), a distinctive grille (often a “diamond-pin” or chrome/grille styling associated with AMG).
INTERIOR
Interior upgrades: sport seats, possibly sport-style steering wheel (sometimes flat-bottomed, with aluminum paddle shifters), metal/brushed-metal pedals, special floor mats, and generally a more upscale finish compared to base trims.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (7G DCT), with manual-shift mode and optional paddle shifters on the steering wheel (for manual gear changes).
Drive layout (in the 2015 GLA 250 4MATIC version) is all-wheel drive (AWD), sending power to all four wheels.
So in practice: the 7-speed dual-clutch gives quick, smooth gear changes; the AWD helps with grip and stability, especially in slippery conditions. The drivetrain suits the 250’s character as a versatile, premium compact SUV—relatively peppy yet refined.
Smooth automatic shifting, especially ideal in city and motorway driving, with the flexibility of manual paddle shifts if you want a more involved drive. AWD helps with stability and traction — useful in wet or variable UK weather.Performance: 0-60 mph (≈ 0–100 km/h) in about 7.1 seconds
