RX-7 Type R - Prepared by RE-Amemiya.






This stunning RX-7 is amongst the very best entry level priced examples we have been able to offer in the last year. It's literally brimming with original RE-Amemiya modifications and more! Most of the modifications are cosmetic, so this makes for a car that can be used regularly despite the show stopping looks. With low original mileage, it''ll also give reliability for years ahead. If you're after a stunning looking low priced example, this example is hard to beat:
Exterior Improvements: All original RE-Amemiya bodykit parts are fitted as follows: Ad Facer Type 1 front bumper, Sleek headlight kit, Driving light kit, Type 1 rear spoiler, AD Step 2 side skirts, Rear fender trim and rear side skirts, Aero mirrors, clear side repeaters and rear reflectors. Note the front number plate mount has a spring loaded hinge. At standstill the number plate's upright - but above 50 mph it will move to horizontal and upside down, then return to position when driving slowly. It's lockable in the visible position too (This items was recently removed from sale by RE-Amemiya due to Police complaints in Japan!) All of these RE-Amemiya items combined, cost £2,800 in Japan when purchased new, exclusive of painting and fitting! The owner then splashed out over £1,700 on new Forged construction lightweight alloy Work Meister S2 alloys of size 17 x 8.5 front and 17 x 9.5 rear, together with 15mm bolt on billet spacers at the back, to widen the track. Tyres fitted are Bridgestone Potenza 235/45-ZR17 front and 255/40/ZR17 rear. These are around 1/3rd worn at each corner. The rims are in good condition with only minor scratches to some edges. Note: We are able suppliers of original RE-Amemiya parts. Front orange indicators can be replaced with clear items. Rear lenzes can also be replaced with various choices from 1996+ OEM type, to LED.
Performance Improvements: Once again, all RE-Amemiya here: An alloy air seperator tank and high pressure cap help maintain coolant circuit reliability. A Redom ECU allows the car to run at 0.8 - 0.9 Bar. Response Air filter and cold air ducting aluminium plate, with aluminium suction pipes. Exhaust system is also easily recognisable as RE-Amemiya's stainless Dolphin Tail muffler kit. A Knight Sports racing oil filler cap is also fitted. Total cost of performance modifications in Japan cost £1,700 excluding fitting! These modifications combined give around 300 bhp - For the UK this setup will be fine, but for higher power applications we recommend fitment of an Apexi Power FC and controller, which when mapped in the UK will give 330 bhp, in combination with a boost controller such as a Greddy Profec B II. These items are available at discount through Note there's an engine brace fitted too. This stops the engine flexing on it's mounts under hard acceleration and so protects the power frame from flex, which is used to connect the gearbox and engine to the differential. It also makes the drive train feel more direct than standard. A useful improvement and safety feature. Note that original suspension springs have been replaced with 20mm lower progressive items. Ride is sporty, yet compliant.
Interior. RE-Amemiya RE items again: Leather trimmed steering wheel with annodised alloy extension, original RE-A boost gauge mounted on a bespoke 52mm steering column pod. Gearknob is a shortened version from RE-A also - for quicker throws. On the right hand corner of the dashboard there's a Billion VFC Pro unit. This monitors water temperature accurately and is also settable to adjust the radiator cooling fans. This should be set to 85 Deg C for best results. Below the steering column there’s a RAZO turbo timer. Speedo, as fitted since new is a 300 km/h unit. The interior is unworn, as to be expected of a low mileage car. Seats are in good condition with no wear, holes, cigarette burns, etc although there are some drink spillage marks on the passenger seat. This will be cleaned when valletting as part of full UK is has been a non smoker's car since new. Note there is a Carrozzeria CD/Radio MOS FET 45W x 4 unit fitted in combination with a Sony 10 Disc CD Changer. Audio is supplied free of charge with this car. Total cost of interior modifications in Japan was around £1,000. Nothing is required to improve the interior, although it would be beneficial to possibly fit other gauges to monitor the engine's performance. Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature even under hard use), front and rear strut braces, 4 piston front callipers, original lightweight sports alcantara suede seats, alloy door sill trims, PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, original fitted mats, factory tinted rear window with original rear wiper. The original tool kit is complete and unused and includes the spark plug tool optional additional tool tray. A factory option rear parcel shelf is fitted also. Test Drive: We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Suspension is supple and sports like, with no rattles, squeaks, etc. from the interior. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried out. There are no faults at all to report at all. With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available combined with double wishbone alloy suspension. This RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without modification. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line.
Condition: Being a low genuine mileage car, mechanically, this car's engine is of course in great condition. Also, near new condition brake discs, lack of scratches to the original matt black interior plastics, lack of seat wear, working air pump (Unusual on older cars due to mileage), lack of wear to light switch, lack of stone chips, etc. all serve to confirm this car's genuine nature. Auction grade is 3 (Auction sheet is available). This is because of the many modifications the car's received. As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork and noted all faults, no matter how minor: The rear bumper is scratched with some paint cracking and has been touched in. There's a small dent on the o/s quarter and some pin dents to each rear quarter and the passenger door. The bonnet and roof have previously been painted. Whilst paint quality is OK, there's a small blemish by the driver's A-pilar, as shown in pictures. The bodykit panels are in excellent near new condition with no significant damage from use. Parts of it are darker in places than the original paint: Mirrors side skirts especially. There are also some paint chips on the front bumper, rear spoiler and skirts. Although the paint and bodywork are presentable left untouched, in search of perfection - as part of the full OTR price, we'd respray the entire car. All faults would then be repaired and the car presented in absolutely A1 condition.
This RX-7 has clearly been cherished and hardly used throughout it's life so far!! It's rare to find an older RX-7 with such low genuine mileage and stunning condition with chosen cosmetic extras. This car presents itself as a jaw dropping combination! Clearly this car has been owned by a fastidiously fussy Japanese person. Total cost of wheels, tyres, exhaust, aero parts, lights, interior accessories in Japan totals approx. £7,200 - excluding painting fitting. The main points about this car are of course it's genuine low mileage and stunning condition throughout. As this is not a significantly tuned example, it can be used for daily driving is also affordable to insure by younger drivers wanting a special looking Rex!
RX-7's in as beautiful condition as this combined at an affordable price are extremely hard to find, even in Japan. The engine is in fine health with high oil pressure, healthy turbos and perfect starting every time. It's producing an excellent spread of power - perfectly healthy and with plenty of life to give with mileage this low, before an engine refresh at around 75,000 miles – There’s still approx. 45,000 miles to go!!!
