Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R33) Le Mans Limited Edition.
The Le Mans R33 GT-R was built to commemorate the Skyline GT-R's entry into the le Mans 24 hour race that took place in 1996. Only 80 were ever built and of those perhaps only 10-20% were made as V-Spec models.This is only the second Le Mans Limited Edition GT-R we have come across that meets our usual high standards and the first V-Spec in this special edition - Racing Blue. It's in stunning low mileage condition throughout. This GT-R was completed by ourselves in October and has been briefly owned by a customer who has tuned and improved it further, but has then fallen in love with another car we had in stock. Therefore this example is now up for sale - with a further £3,000 spent on uprared HKS GT2530 turbos and mapping for UK fuel.
Aesthetic improvements: A full set of Panasport G7 18" 2 piece forged Racing alloys are fitted with Bridgestone Potenza (RE-01's on front Grid II's on the rear) tyres of size 265/40ZR18 - less than half worn. Wheels are also in top condition with no scratches at all. A set of wheel locks, complete with key are also fitted.
Main Specifications: This is a rarer and more desirable V-Spec model, complete with active electronically controlled rear Limited Slip Differential and adoption of ATTESA E-TS PRO system for the 4WD bias control. Of course, Brembo brakes are standard - although the front discs have been uprated to slotted rotors - not very long ago (Judging by low wear to these). Being an LM Version, this car is also equipped with Nismo bonnet and bumper vents, as well as a commemorative sticker on each C Pilar. Also included as standard: Climate Control A/C, PAS, Central Locking, ABS, velour seats, tinted windows, adjustable rear spoiler, original full set of fitted mats, etc.
Performance Extras: The engine fitted to this car is a full BNR34 RB26 unit, inclusive of ancilliaries, etc. Prior to arrival in the UK, it had been tuned to stage 1 with standard R34 GT-R turbos and was making making approximately 370 bhp at 0.9 bar with the following additions: Induction kit consisting of Blitz Sus Power oil impregnated mesh filters. Apexi Power FC ECU with hand held controller, Blitz iD Electronic Solenoid Boost controller. An HKS front mount intercooler is also fitted.To help keep the engine running cool, an Apexi uprated radiator core is fitted (Blue radiator), complete with an Apexi radiator cap.A Radiator shroud also helps keep air flowing in the right direction. Downpipe is a Mine's Pro equal length unit, combined with a Dual silencer Tababe Hyper Medallion cat-back system.
Since arriving to the UK this GT-R has received a set of HKS GT25/30 turbos, a catalyst replacement pipe and a complete rolling road mapping session at GT Art, with setting by Gary Pashingham. In addition it received a full service at the same time. It's now making approx 465 bhp at the flywheel - at a conservative 0.9 Bar of boost. Handling Improvements: The suspension has only very recently been uprated with Tanabe Sustec Pro S-O coilovers. These give a firmer and better controlled ride than standard, without being harsh - and are of course fully adjustable. A pair of C-Spanners are also included so the ride height can be adjusted if preferred. The front strut brace is a JIC item of polished alloy.
Additional extras in the interior: Hifi is an Alpine CDA-7892J unit which is a CD/Radio unit of approx 200W complete with security removable face. Also fitted are uprated Carrozzeria speakers and grilles in the back, with uprated speakers behind original grilles in the front. This unit is included free of charge with the car! Also fitted from new is a Nismo gauge cluster, complete with 320 km/h Speedometer, uprated Nismo rev counter and a carbon fibre look surround combined with a matching centre gauge cluster showing torque to front wheels, turbo boost and oil temperature. Note that a SARD boost gauge is also fitted to the driver's A-Pilar. The Apexi FC's display unit also gives details of 8 parameters that can be monitored through a graph, or with digital readout. Steering wheel is a Victoria G-02 leather rimmed item. If preferred, we can substitute this for a standard R33 GT-R Airbag steering wheel, or source a new steering wheel at low cost from Japan.A Nismo leather covered gearknob is also fitted.
Auction grade of this car was 1 in Japan due to the engine not being the original unit. Condition of paintwork is as shown by pictures, absolutely outstanding throughout! There are no scratches to the window switch panel, indicator stalk, no significant wear to the driver's seat, carpets in perfect condition, no wear to handbrake gaiter, tec- which all serve to give futher evidence this is a car of genuinely low original mileage. This has also been a non-smoker's car since new. There are no faults to report with the interior at all. The many photos of this GT-R will show clearly this example was very carefully looked after, inside, outside and mechanically. Note that there are also some minor dents on the sill's seams - a common occurence on all GT-R's, as use of the jacking points will cause this damage on Skylines.
Engine: Excellent oil pressure (4kg/cm2 at idle when cold, 3kg/cm2 when oil's at 90 Deg C - Normal operating temp). This indicates a near new engine, of very good health! Clutch feels as if it has plenty of life remaining (Standard unit). Brake discs are each almost new! We test drove this example and found it felt tight and very together. Idle is very smooth from start up, no rattles or squeaks from the interior, good smooth braking stability. It feels like a car that's never been driven hard and there is evidence this is the case, given that the paintwork is excellent, especially at the front - with no stone chips gained over the car's life in Japan.
All signs show this hasn't been a Skyline that's been driven hard and modifications are sensible to improve the car yet still allow it to remain relaxing to drive for daily use. This is one of the latest model GT-R's that can currently be imported to the UK (As there is no model report for GT-R's - nor likely to be one available any time soon, no post December 1996 GT-R's can be SVA tested). This GT-R's had a good £15,000 worth of upgrades through it's previous owner in Japan and a further £3,000 spent on further upgrades since arrival to the UK. It has been stunningly well kept.
