DESCRIPTION

As with most of the best Japanese sports cars, the PS13 and KPS13 Silvias were only made for the Japanese market. The PS13 is considered to be the finest of the Silvias for tuning, drifting and track work and is now more sought after in Japan when in top condition, than a legendary AE86. Weighing in at only 1,170 kg as standard, this model has the enviable acolade of having been successfully used from the humble beginnings of the drift scene in Japan and is still used with strong success in the D1 Professional Grand Prix of Japan by some of the most successful teams - a true testament to how special these cars are ...A true "Old Skool" drift classic!!
This example has been extensively re-worked by none other than GP Sports to make a fully prepared drift car, not just mechanically, but cosmetically also, sporting a genuine URAS bodykit, Carbon Fibre GT wing, Work Emotion R Kai 17" alloys in chrome - with metalflake flip paintwork!. GP Sports currently compete in the D1 Professional drift series of Japan! See: www.gpsports.co.jp
On this example, complete preparation has been carried out as follows:
The engine bay is a work of art: The Cam cover has been sprayed in the same metal flake finish as the rest of the paintwork and the GP sports name is proudly shown as the creator of this Silvia. The Air flow meter is from a 300ZX. Braided hoses and annodised clamps have replaced most of the oil breather pipes and some of the fuel pipes too. The firewall has been lined with heat resistant material. A large polished GP sports oil catch tank seperates oil mist coming from the crank case away from the inlet charge. A large oil cooler is also employed and located behind the o/s bumper corner, complete with an easily accessed remote oil filter housing in the engine bay. An HKS front mounted intercooler complete with alloy piping has replaced the original side mounted item. The induction kit is an HKS Direct drive unit complete with alloy elbow to the turbo inlet. The inlet manifold is a high performance stainless steel item also. The front pipe and exhaust are uprated high flow items and the catalyst is also uprated with an Apexi item. Boost is controlled by an HKS 3rd generation electronic valve controller. The auction sheet also describes the injectors, fuel pump, camshafts as being uprated. The turbo has also apparently been uprated internally by GP Sports. A GP Sports anodised alloy radiator shroud helps air to flow through the uprated high capacity Cusco lightweight alloy radiator. A total of around £4,500 has been spent on engine tuning and improvements.
Driveline, Wheels Brakes: Wheels are 17" 18" Work Emotion R Kai's with special order chromed finish. Tyres are 215/45/ZR17 on the front and 225/40/ZR18 on the rear! Note the conversion to a 5 stud pattern with the use of S14 hubs and front brakes. The clutch is uprated for drifting, as is the differential, although these are not harsh nor does the clutch judder when releasing it. Note a brake master cylinder is also fitted.
Suspension has been uprated with GP Sports Drift Spec GR6 coilovers. These are rated in Japan by drifters as some of the best factory built shocks and often in use by drift teams in D1. The front units also have camber adjustable mounts, so that negative camber can be dialed in to make the front grip more. Uprated and adjustable front tie rods enable front castor to be adjusted for steering self correction. With pillow ball bushes, there's no play there, so steering feel and response is improved. At the rear, the upper arms and toe control arms are also uprated with strengthened and adjustable items, so rear camber and toe settings can be changed to fine tune the driftability of this Silvia. A total of around £5,000 has been spent on wheels, suspension, brakes and suspension alone!
Interior: A Nardi classic steering wheel is fitted of course. An accessory no self respecting drift fanatic in Japan would be without. In the middle of the dashboard is a trio of 60mm Defi gauges, to monitor water temp, oil temp and turbo boost, complete with large flashing warning lights on each gauge. Warnings are pre-settable on Defi's and these are some of the most accurate gauges available on the market. A High Quality Carrozeria MD/CD/Radio unit is fitted - combined with uprated speakers. A Nismo alloy shift knob is also fitted. Note the sports tailored front floor mats too - another classy addition. There is also a Greddy turbo timer installed. The HKS 3rd generation boost controller is located within easy reach / viewing. Total cost in Japan for interior upgrades would have been around £2,500 when new. Please note: All interior electronic accessories are supplied free of charge and without warranty. The driver's seat is a Bride reclinable item which give more support than standard. If preferred we can also supply full Recaro style bucket seats from £250 each - fitted - through our other website: www.neweraparts.com
Bodywork: Considering this car is now 12 years old, it's in awesome condition! This is not an original colour. In fact, the car used to be Silver underneath. The paint job is of excellent quality too. The entire bodykit is . There's a full carbon 3D GT wing also, to give the car a mean look and assist rear end grip at higher speeds. It's fully adjustable for rake too, of course. On each door are stickers displaying some of the names of manufacturer's parts that adourn this car, drift style and the privacy rear glass has stickers from the "Crazy Logic" midnight club this car used to run with. Mirrors are carbon mounted after market items. The headlights fitted are not original either, but square lenzed items, which give the front a meaner look. Note that the front indicators and sidelights are also clear crystal items. We are also able to supply crystal style rear light clusters inexpensively. Cost of exterior modifications, paintwork and lighting - over £3,500 in Japan!
Original factory equipment includes: Rare electric glass sunroof, electric windows, power steering, climate control, remote controlled boot and filler cap release, adjustable steering column, etc.
Auction grade of this car is R1 (Copy of auction sheet is available). The "R" denotes that the car has had an accident (Rear quarter has been replaced and inner wing repaired) Grade 1 is due to the many modifications this car's received! As the bodywork has been lovingly resprayed, condition is excellent. here are some light dents on the rear quarter panels. These are shown in pictures. Due to the specialist nature of the paintwork, we won't respray, but will have a dent specialist repair these as best as possible, as part of preparation when the car reaches the UK. There are also some minor scratches as shown on the front bumper upper centre side skirt on the passenger side. Again, very light and barely noticable. Please see pictures. Interior is in excellent condition considering the age of the car. Note that the centre console has been repainted. It is easy to remove this with paint stripper however. The rear speakers in the parcel shelf are missing their grilles. Also there is a is a small burn mark/ hole on the driver's seat. The original cigar lighter has been removed. A replacement can be sourced if needed, inexpensively.
Test Drive: This modified Silvia drives very well, with excellent throttle response, good strong power throughout the rev range with boost coming on from around 3,000 rpm and going all the way to the redline, drama free brakes, good clutch and most importantly - excellent handling, with easy, slow driftability. The repair to the rear has been well completed. Of course, we checked made absolutely sure this car drives just as it should. Needless to say, it sounds awesome - with the engine modifications fitted and turns heads - everywhere!
Examples as good as this are very, very rare - even in Japan! This is also the most sought after shape, as featured on Initial-D Japanese drift cartoons! Condition is excellent - this is another top condition PS13 coupe we've come across hence the reason we bought it. With a total of over £15,000 spent on We only buy the very best cars available!
Judging by the attention our video director - Steve Brooks' blue PS13 generates when appearing at shows in the UK (it's not as modified as this...yet!) this will be a car that generates a LOT of interest. Expect to see a full feature of this car in J-Tuner magazine and other UK magazines when it reaches the UK, as there isn't another quite like it in the UK!!!!
