DESCRIPTION

This example was sourced specifically to order for a discerning customer who wanted a rust free white example that had been well looked after. After months of searching amongst the usual crash repaired and rough examples, we found this one at below his budget.

The Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen also known as the TME, or Evo 6.5 is considered by many to be the best Evo ever. Made in only limited numbers for homologation, it's by far the most sought after of all Lancer Evolution models. It gives the best driving experience of all Evo's produced so far. Improvements over the previous Evo 6 included a high response titanium and aluminium alloy bladed turbo with a smaller diameter compressor wheel to be able to withstand higher boost, quicker steering rack, T. Makinen embossed seats with matching red stitched Momo steering wheel, gear lever gaiter and leather gear knob in combination with black faced gauges with red numbering and calibrations. White Enkei Racing Forged Alloy 17" wheels were also fitted - as used in Group A racing. The front bumper was of a new design, specially shaped through wind tunnel testing in an effort to improve wind speeds. The lower cross member was also replaced with an alloy item for strength and light weight.

Standard equipment includes: PAS, Dual SRS Airbags, Momo steering wheel, 4 channel ABS, Brembo brakes, Permanent 4WD system, Anti Yaw, Water jet to intercooler, Rear Wiper, Central Locking, Electric mirrors with retract mode, Signature T, Makinen Recaros, etc. Original optional extras also include fitted mats. Wheels are original Enkei 17" items with 225/45ZR17 Bridgestone sports tyres (Please note these are worn to near the UK legal limit and will need replacing). This car is mostly standard inclusive of still having the Japanese 112 mph top speed restrictor fitted (Removed during UK conversion). To get full information on the complete specification of a standard Lancer Evo 6 Tommi Makkinen, please click here. On this link you'll find a full Lancer Evo buyer's guide in downloadable .pdf format - containing info on all Lancer models ever produced. This will be more comprehensive than any description we could put here. Additional extras. Original option wind deflectors are fitted. Also, note that there's an audio system combined with DVD driven satelite navigation. Whilst this won't work in the UK, the CD Radio will. It may also be possible to connect a DVD player to play on the screen. A Blitz turbo timer is fitted Note: If preferred our workshop can also fit an original TME Sticker set sourved from Mitsubishi Japan to this car whilst it's being prepared - there would be additional parts labour charges for this.

Test Drive: We drove this car in all approx 150 km whilst bringing it back to our premises for cleaning prior to photographing, then taking it to the paintshop for repairs shown - before taking it back to Yokohama where it would await shipping to UK.The Evo 6 TME's we source always pull noticably stronger than other lower mileage Evo 6's we've sourced before. This example's no exception, pulling strongly all the way to the redline. Clutch has probably already been replaced, as on Evos it can wear out fairly quickly. This one feels as if there's plenty of life left in it yet. We didn't explore the handling much as the limits are so high, it's unlikely to slide at anything but insane corner entry speeds. Brakes work strongly with no drama at all. In fact, this example drives much like a new and tight example with no faults noticed at all.

Auction grade is 4b. Interior is in excellent condition and judging by the lack of ash in the cigarette lighter and ashtray, it's been owned by a non smoker. As shown on the picture of the original auction sheet, this is a very clean example that's nearly completely unmarked. The only fault we found on the interior aside from minor scratches to the PVC panels (Not easily visible) was a small hole in the carpet where the owner's heel wore through. This can be repaired by an interior trim specialist in UK, whilst the car's being prepared (We don't know the cost of this so haven't included in r - but would be approx £100). Alternatively, we'd suggest fitting a piece of material neatly cut to fit over the hole.
In order to find every possible fault with the bodywork, we washed and chamois leathered this car then waxed it. We also cleaned the wheels and engine bay. 2 of the Enkei wheels have minor scratches (Please see pictures). These are the items we found amis: Front n/s wing had some scratches and the front bumper too. On the o/s/r door there were some small stone chips. Each of the bodywork paint faults has now been professionally repaired - with costs included in the OTR price shown. Note that the callipers are fading in colour due to heat - this is common on all Evos from Version 5 onwards (Previous models didn't have Brembo brakes as std). Note the lack of corrosion to the under side of the car or the battery tray. It's possible this car's never been used in snow or conditions where salt and grit were used on the roads. Complete with full UK conversions, E-SVA and first UK registration, MOT, 12 month's comprehensive warranty, full MOT and 6 month's road tax, this one off immaculate condition Tommi Makinen Evo was sourced at: £14,490 OTR

This car is due to depart Yokohama, end of March due for arrival to UK around the last week of April 2008.
