Skyline GT-R V-Spec - Fast Road Spec.
This stunning Skyline is the first R32 V-Spec GT-R we've sourced in a very long time. These are usually very expensive to buy amongst competition from Japanese R32 enthusiasts, but just this once we were lucky to snap one up at a smaller auction of Japan. This a low genuine mileage example with excellent spec - in carefully looked after condition.
Historical Significance: To celebrate the success of the GT-R in both Group N and Group A racing, Nissan introduced the Skyline GT-R V-Spec ("Victory Specification") car on February 3, 1993. The V-Spec added Brembo brakes and a retuned ATTESA E-TS system to the Nismo and N1 packages, as well as 17" BBS wheels with 235/45/17 tires. The V-Spec has a list price of ¥ 5.260 million.Finally on February 14, 1994 the Skyline GT-R V-Spec II was released, with the only change being wider 245/45/17 tires. Total production of the V-Spec I and II was 1,453 and 1,303 units respectively. Total production of the R32 Skyline GT-R was 43,394 units from 1989 - 1995.
Engine Performance Improvements: Tuning is mostly for response and added reliability rather than brute power. An M's (KN) induction kit has replaced the original air box and on the exhaust side, there's an equal length stainless HKS downpipe mated to a stainless cat replacement pipe and a Signal Auto sports muffler kit. Radiator is an increased capacity Koyo item and most of the coolant hoses have been replaced with Samco blue reinforced silicone items. There's a large HKS 16 row oil cooler kit, with the element located at the most advantegeous position - behind the n/s bumper vent. ECU is a re-chipped unit with fueling upgrade to run higher boost in combination with a Blitz I-D boost controller. Thoughtfully to avoid problems later, the intake manifold gasket was also replaced with a Tomei metal item (Original paper gaskets can leak).
Other performance Interior Improvements: Suspension has been improved with a set of Sustec Pro coilovers. These are specifically designed for fast road and trackday use. This combination is firm yet compliant for road use. Note there's a Cusco rear strut brace and a thick JIC front brace also. The car's been fitted with a 7 point Cusco safety 21 steel roll cage, which not only offers improved safety, but greater stability handling through a stiffer shell. Note the front part of the cage can be removed if preferred (We have access to a complete spare interior for R32 GT-R in excellent condition so if preferred we could remove it completely return the interior to standard at very low cost)A Blitz R-VIT Type II unit is fitted. The R-VIT (Racing Vehicle Information Technology) This is a state of the art monitoring system that can read and display up to 20 different types of Real Timer information provided by the ECU.The R-VIT feature peak-hold recording, playback features, that can record and replay up to 99 seconds. Limits can be set in flash and audible warnings to notify the driver of different engine variables, thus offering excellent monitoring for the engine. A trio of Greddy instruments to the left of the instrument binacle indicate Boost, Oil temp and Oil pressure. To the right there are 2 additional boost gauges. It seems the previous owner liked gauges, but we feel these additional turbo gauges ought to be removed, to provide a tidier presentation. There's a Greddy turbo timer too. All improvements combined give approx. 380 bhp, with reliability and fast response for fast road use and track days. Audio consists of a 45W x 4 DVD player with LDC screen, CD Radio head unit with uprated speakers. Please note: All additional audio and electronic equipment is supplied free of charge with this car.
Cosmetic Improvements: Wheels are 17" Advan RG's with a healthy offset to provide an agressive stance. Tyres are in good condition with about 50% wear remaining. Note the front number plate mount to the o/s to provide more agressive looks improve air flow to the intercooler radiator. Engine cover has been repainted as has the intake manifold. A Nismo oil filler cap is also fitted. Driver's seat has been replaced with a Recaro SPG unit complete with bespoke BNR32 adjustable seat rail. This provides improved support during tight cornering for the driver, as well as improved comfort for longer trips (A Matching Recaro seat may be possible to obtain used, inexpensively if preferred).
Although this car needs nothing added, if wanted, there's still more things the new owner can do to personalise for his own GT-R perfection (We're here to help!). If intending to improve power we'd recommend fitment of an Apexi Power FC ECU Commander, 700cc injectors, a larger fuel pump, Nismo AFM's and perhaps some HKS GT-SS turbos. These combined with the existing modifications would take power to approx 500 bhp (Clutch can also be uprated, we have a Nismo Twin Copper mix in stock, ideal for this application) Newera is also able to recommend a tuner to carry out professional mapping to work with UK fuels on the customer's behalf. For the R32 GT-R V-Spec Standard equipment includes: larger discs with Brembo calipers at each corner, electronically controlled rear differential with cooling fins, ABS, Hicas 4 wheel steering, Atessa 4WD, Climate Control A/C, PAS, Central Locking, rear wiper, etc. Note that the carpet and mats aren't from a 32, but are more modern finish from an R33 GT-R.Condition inside out: Interior is in good condition. Note that the carpet was previously removed and some of the floor painted in matching white. R33 Skyline carpet has recently been fitted in combination with Nissan Skyline R33 floor mats. The steering wheel has some minor scratches. We noticed the fuel gauge isn't working, so we have sourced a replacement gauge which we'll be fitting prior to completion of this car. As pictures show, the exterior is generally in good condition. From a previous accident repair (Like many older GT-R's - the front has also been repaired in the distant past - but was well repaired with perfect shut lines etc). There's some blemished paint and chips on the n/s/r quarter and a small blemish on the o/s/r quarter too. Front bumper's splitter has a small crack. These faults will be repaired prior to completion as part of full UK th mirrors have some light touch in marks and there's a small touch in mark on the rear bumper as well as on the n/s C pilar (See detailed pictures). These later items are too small to repair, but are mentioned herewith to give an accurate description.Engine Test Drive: After careful warming and extensive checks we took this car out to test can confirm it drives very well! It's got strong power and all signs of a well maintained car. Being uprated, the brakes are also considerably stronger than standard - affording the sort of modern stopping power needed for a car of this level of performance. Excellent oil pressure (5kg/cm2 at idle when cold and 2.5kg/m2 when at normal operating temperature) at idle shows this is a strong engine in good health. Engine has absolutely no signs of wear, it's super smooth too. Clutch feels as if it's standard and the gearbox is notably smooth and lacking in any of the often found signs of synchro wear found on these cars. We test drove this example for around 100 kms and found it felt tight and very together with a very direct steering and suspension setup. It pulls strongly from just under 3,000 rpm with power climbing all the way through the power range and is making approximately 380 bhp. Total cost of modifications to this car cost the last owner approx. £8,000 during ownership. OTR Price: £9,895.
