DESCRIPTION


The STi Version 5 Wagon is one of the most interesting and capable of the classic model 5 door Imprezas. A model only built for the Japanese domestic market. It was on the previous model STi Version 3 that Subaru chose to introduce 4 piston signature front brake calipers with 2 piston rear callipers to match. The engines are Sti Blue-printed units with stronger internals incl. better camshafts, valve springs and larger turbo combined with an 8,000 rpm rev limit (Normal WRX's are 7,000) packing 280+ bhp as standard. The STi 5 is also distinguishable by it's updated vented bonnet, light green tint on windows (Privacy glass on the rear), updated rear spoiler with integrated central brake light and the red and white rear lights in addition to crystal type headlights and a fresher design of front bumper. The Sti 5 interior was also of a brighter design than previous versions, with "STi" embossed front seats white dials with a digital odometer. The air conditioning controls were also updated and a driver's SRS airbag included with the Momo leather steering wheel in addition to a passenger dash-mounted airbag. Further mechanical improvements from Subaru Technica International include a carbon fibre front strut brace, uprated intercooler, full Sti Exhaust and red signature sports shock absorbers - an option on this model. This example also includes privacy rear glass and original wind deflectors.
For the sports driver who wants reliable high capacity load carrying capability without the weight penalty,outstanding 4WD road holding, STi performance and reliability - this is the wagon to own. Better dynamically than the later heavier and more watered down bugeye STI wagons, performance for money - you'll be hard pressed to find better. Classic Impreza Sti performance - with all the practicality of a normal 5 door wagon.
Performance, cosmetic other modifications: This car's received mild improvements to enhance handling, braking and reliability mostly. Uprated front rear anti-roll bars are fitted with beefier drop-links. Also fitted are Cusco under body brace cusco trunk brace, along with the standard Carbon front strut brace. These combined help stiffen the chassis handling - to give better turn-in and make the car's limits even higher than std. The brake discs have been replaced with Project Mu items and brake pads are uprated too. In the engine bay there's an uprated earthing kit ignition leads to help improve ignition efficiency. A Zero Sports cooling panel is also fitted. Note the original STi option flush-mount driving lights. Cosmetic improvements also include RAYS alumite security wheel nuts (Key socket is inside the glovebox), alloy sump guard, clear side repeaters and Sti rally style mud flaps. Alpine 200W audio is also fitted. Please note Audio is included free of charge and is not included in warranty. Note that other parts can also be sourced inexpensively - and supplied with this car. Condition: Our full array of pictures will speak for themselves - to show the outstanding condition of this Impreza STi 5 Wagon. It's rust free has no underside corrosion. There's some very small touch up paint areas applied by the previous (one) owner. These require no attention and aren't noticable. The front and rear bumpers have larger touch up paint areas (See pictures). We can offer the car as is - to keep costs down, or have both bumpers professionally re-sprayed as part of the full UK he body / paint work is in excellent condition. It's rare to find an example anywhere near this good nowadays. Interior is in perfect condition aside from light scratches to the o/s/r door trim (Too minor to warrant replacement - see picture!) and some holes drilled on the steeering column cowl - where the previous owner had a boost gauge fitted. We'll source a replacement cowl to go with this car.Test Drive: Mechanically it's also in good condition. Strong power with good response, a nice quiet engine with no noisy valve gear or signs of a hard pushed engine. Note Brake discs usually suffer from heavy wear on Imprezas - if driven hard for most of their lives. This example's discs are replaced with high quality Project Mu items. We test drove this car after warming up - which revealed a very tight feeling car. Over a bumpy road there were no rattles or squeaks. We noted the tyres are near Yokohama's for all weather use. Since April 2004, a model report / extra fee has been required when SVA / iVA testing any car of newer manufacture than 10 years of age at first registration in UK. Although there are model reports for Sti 7 8 wagon models models, there are none available for the classic STi Impreza models. This mean that only 10 (or greater) year old classic Imprezas can currently be imported to the UK. As most pre 2000 year Imprezas in Japan are too tired nowadays, or just too expensive if in top condition and low mileage - we usually don't have many of these available. We simply won't buy a car that doesn't meet our exacting standards. Compare this to other examples that were imported to the UK years ago...As these have therefore only recently become re-importable, since it was too costly with SVA testing before - so the majority in the UK will have been there a long time and probably suffered the tests of time. Our hand picked fresh import rust free well looked after cars are much better, in comparison.
