DESCRIPTION

The Pulsar GTi-R needs little introduction. This was one of the first 4WD rally fugitives released onto the market in the UK. With very strong road holding and 0-60 in 5.7 seconds it had performance that no other comparable car at the time could muster. The SR20 engine is a strong unit, with lots of tunability and nowadays lots of tuning parts available to make more power.But that would be missing the point of this car. As original unmolested cars they’re completely reliable. But if the engine is made to give a lot more power, the gearbox and clutch are known to be weak points, failing as a result of being asked to transmit more than they were originally designed to do. It’s far better to keep these near standard – or if you must tune one, get one that’s not been tuned before so you can be sure the drive train still has it’s integrity as Nissan intended it.
Knowing these cars well, we’ve only ever supplied near standard and therefore trouble free examples that have been well looked after, covered low genuine mileages and are completely rust free. As these are typically the most expensive to buy in Japan, this means in the UK the vast majority of GTi-R’s imported from Japan are of the opposite end of the scale. This is why people looking for GTi-R’s usually come to us after months of searching because they simply cannot find a pukka, clean and truly well looked after example.You’re looking at the best GTi-R we’ve come across in Japan in the last 12 months. With only 43,957 genuine miles having been carefully looked after and unmodified from new this is a rare gem.
Factory fitted specification includes: Optional ABS, optional electric glass sunroof, optional alloy sump guard, remote controlled door mirrors with retract mode, climate control air conditioning, PAS, electric windows, rear wiper, lightly tinted glass, central locking. Original 14” wheels are shod with Bridgestone Potenza Grid II sports tyres – less than half worn at each corner.Note this is a revision 2 model of the GTi-R, so it carries upgraded interior trim and no umbrella storage in the driver’s B pilar. This example carries every option available in 1993.
Upgraded Parts: A 304 grade stainless Steel cat back exhaust system is fitted. On the steering column, there’s an Omori boost gauge. This is for cosmetic purposes, although it’s also a useful tool to ensure the car’s running correctly at a glance (0.9 Bar as standard). The steering wheel has been replaced with a Momo item and there’s a metal gear knob too. Note also the very rare Nismo knee bolsters fitted to the driver's door trim and centre console. A GAB alloy front strut brace is fitted also. Driving lights are by PIAA. Audio consists of a Kenwood DPX 990MD 200W head unit with DSP, MD, CD, Radio, complete with upgraded Kenwood speakers at each corner. A TV is also included (Screen remote control are wrapped in bubble film – as shown in pictures) which attaches to the self adhesive mount located on the dashboard. Note this will not work without specialist conversion in the UK, although the screen can be made to work with a portable DVD player or similar with some wiring conversion. Please note: All audio equipment is supplied free of charge with this car. Other parts such as suspension, air filter kit, boost controller, etc. are available direct from Japan to further tune this car if desired, although we recommend keeping the turbo boost standard. This has been a non smoker's car since new. Interior is in excellent and unmarked condition with no faults to report aside from wear on the driver’s floor mat, from the driver’s heel. Auction grade is 4 (Auction sheet is shown in the pictures). The exterior is also in excellent original condition. Rear arches are prone to rusting on these. On this example there is no rust at all.
Being a car originally supplied in Tokyo, where there is no salt on roads during winter, as well as having covered very low mileage – this GTi-R is unlikely to have been used much if at all during winter. Paintwork has clearly been well cared for and polished regularly. We washed this car and examined carefully to find all faults on the bodywork: Small pin dents were found on: each rear quarter, driver’s door, o/s/f wing. These will be removed by a dent repair specialist as part of full UK ere are some minor stone chips on the bonnet, stone chips to the n/s/f arch and a small area on the rear spoiler where the paint has worn through due to over polishing in a small area. These will be touched in / sprayed as required by a local specialist as part of full UK OTR preparation. Please note: All paintwork faults are shown in this car’s pictures.
We test drove this GTi-R and found it drove absolutely faultlessly. Brakes work well, with no signs of warping. The gearbox works sweetly with synchromesh unworn, handling is excellent too. Engine has also been serviced again recently - as the oil is totally clean. Performance is strong with 0.9 Bar of boost – giving ample power! This example is probably too good to be used as a car for daily use - as it's so well preserved, but would do the job admirably and reliably. If you're after the very best original GTi-R available, this is it!!
