Mechanical specification is mildly improved, but with quality components, to not only enhance the car's performance, but also give it an excellent start in the event the new owner wishes to further upgrade the spec: A unique Greddy cold air fed induction kit (Trust Airinx) is sited directly behind the intercooler and fed via alloy pipe to the turbo inlet, where air is compressed before going via the large front mounted intercooler, via alloy inlet piping to the manifold. This is the first time we have come across this design - a neat but simple solution to supplying consistently cool air to the engine! An HKS dump valve is fitted via braided hose and located next to the brake servo. An R Magic exhaust is fitted from the cat back, to give unrestrictive flow. Fueling is taken care of by a Knight Sports 4 beat ECU. There is no boost controller fitted. As fueling is safely taken care of to enable greater power output, a boost controller would be the next upgrade - to maintain boost at 0.9 Bar. A Greddy Profec B II boost controller would be recommended. Available at £210.00 through www.neweraparts.com Wheels are original Forged lightweight "Circular", produced by Rays and are of 17" size, with Firestone F-690 sports tyres of size 235/45/ZR17 255/40/ZR17. Tyres at each corner are nearly new. The RX-7's handling is amongst the very best available, with double wishbone alloy struts. In this case, suspension is uprated with TEIN HA fully adjustable coil overs. The current setting is for firm yet comfortable road use, yet gives greater levels of grip and progressive slidability, when desired - for example under hard power exiting a corner.A Greddy boost gauge is fitted to the right of the instrument panel, with a Sport Comp large racing style rev counter to the left - complete with adjustable shift timing light. An ATC sports steering wheel is also fitted. A Kenwood CD/Cassette/Tuner of 40W x 4 is installed. Speakers are also uprated. Audio comes free of charge. Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature), PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, front strut brace, The original tool kit is complete and unused, although there is not the optional spark plug tool fitted. Also fitted is the factory rear strut brace. A factory option rear parcel shelf is not fitted, although one can be obtained at low cost if required - advisable, as the rear hatch on this example is not tinted. Also - as this car has no fitted mats, we'll source some original items to come with the car.
We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives very well. Signs also show the engine's been regularly maintained, with a recent oil and filter change carried out. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried thoroughly. There are no faults at all to report and the car feels tight and rattle free. With the uprated ECU, induction kit, cold air feed, large intercooler and uprated exhaust - this car's making around 300 bhp with current spec. with good - strong response.The interior is in excellent condition with no faults to report aside from a switch cover on the centre console that is cut away (Replacement to be fitted). Auction grade is 3.5 (Auction sheet is available). Exterior is in excellent condition throughout. As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodyworkcarefully: There are 2 tiny pin dents on the bonnet. Front n/s arch has some mild damage on the edge. Also there is a scratch on the o/s corner of the rear bumper and some laquer has peeled off in the centre of it (Pics show this clearly). There are some tiny, possibly polishable scratches on the rear spoiler and hatch. On the n/s lower section of the rear quarter, on the stone chip coated area, there's a small dent. Also one tiny pin dent on the passenger door. There's one tiny stone chip on the roof. The front lip spoiler is scratched. The front bumper's missing the plastic trim to hold the number plate in place. It's probably better to fill the 3 holes shown and put a stick-on front number plate there, in the UK. Each of these faults is small, yet we'll repair them all - to present this car to our usual high standards. Note that the wheels are in nearly new condition - with no scratches to the edges at all.
