The Subaru Forester Sti II Type M Sport Wagon was introduced for the Japan market only at the end of 2001. As usual, the Japanese kept the best for themselves, with the UK, Europe, USA etc only getting much lesser equipped models.The Sti II Type M is an extensively equipped robust spaceous family car offering legendary Subaru STI performance 4WD all-weather capability. This particular example is extremely rare being one of only 800 made and is also equipped with a rare 5 speed manual gearbox and impressive STi specification. As a complete package the Forester STi II spec M 5 speed manual is unbeatable for performance, value and versatility.
We are finding cars of this category are finding welcoming homes with business people who need to carry loads for their work, or owners who need space to carry hobby goods on weekends - whilst wanting a car that is capable of covering ground quickly, be fun to hussle on twisty country roads and able to operate in all weather conditions. Mechanical Specification includes: 2 litre 16 valve boxer 4 cylinder EJ20 engine with intercooler turbo making 280 bhp as standard, 5 speed manual gearbox mated to permanent 4 wheel drive, with powerful 4 wheel disc brakes including STI 4-piston calipers at the front and 2 piston at the rear. Suspension includes factory fitted Bilstein gas suspension. These combined help to offer a refined yet sporty ride with class leading load capacity. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds with ability to return 30 mpg when driven normally. Naturally there's ABS as standard too. Considering the capacity of swallowing an entire family of 5, ample luggage and the dog with ability to cruise at high speed to say a Ski resort, it only weighs 1,410kg unlaiden. Note the low centre design of the rear bumper for ease of loading. Cost of wheels tyres alone - new, was over £2,500. Test Drive: As with each car we source, this example was picked for it's high quality. It's clear from the general condition, this example's never been driven hard and has always been well looked after. As such it drives without fault and the engine is purrrfectly quiet, no rattles or other signs of wear. We found absolutely no faults to report / needing repair.Condition: Auction grade is 4.0. Rear bumper corner has some minor stress cracking to the bottom corner. We feel this would look better with a respray of the rear bumper so this will be repainted professionally if the full UK preparation package is chosen. There are also some minor touch up marks on the driver's door, bonnet and o/s/r quarter panel (See photos) a scratch (Already touched in) on the front bumper. Also some of the wheel edges have minor scratches which have been touched in. Each of these mentioned faults are too minor to require repair but are mentioned herewith to give a complete condition report. Interior is in excellent condition with no faults to report at all. See ashtray which shows this has been a non-smoker's car since new. Note the boost gauge is only lightly fixed in place. We can supply a universal a Pilar pod or a better way of mounting this inexpensively if desired. Although not needed with this wheel design we can also supply new Advan Racing centre caps for these wheels. Note the complete lack of corrosion, or oil leaks on the underside. Engine bay is also in excellent condition, with no rust on bolts, etc. Even the fins on the intercooler show virtually no flattening, further indicating this car's not been driven hard (Subaru intercooler fins will flatten if the car's driven at speed in rain, for example!). Note that being a 2001 model, this car offers high performance motoring, with low level UK road tax costs for the future as rule changes come in. Please be aware: This is a hand picked example of much better quality than you may find elsewhere is the only example we currently have in stock. We are having difficulty finding good examples of cars to buy here in Japan, so once it's gone - we expect finding another replacement Forester Sti II Type M manual model to be very difficult.
