This RX-7 Type R Bathurst took us around 2 months of daily searching to find after 2 previously sold examples attracted much interest. With most examples available even in Japan nowadays being tired and in need of major expense to put completely right, we hadn't wanted to compromise & continued to search until we found this excellent example. Comparing closely with others on offer elsewhere, you can see why this car offers much better value for money than typically abused and poorly cared for RX-7's. It's essentially in top condition with genuine low mileage and similar to the other two most recently supplied also likely to be one of the very best in Europe when imported.
An FD3S RX-7 as standard has excellent junior supercar performance & doesn't require major tuning. Better for road use is to have a non-tempermental car which will give 10's of thousands of miles and help paste a cheesy driver's smile.
We are not fans of FRP bumpers on these nor the pre-facelift type, so just as for the 2 previous models we sourced & fitted a genuine 1999 front bumper assembly, corner lights, plus a brand new lip spoiler in addition to a genuine 1999+ adjustable rear spoiler. These OEM parts were then painted to match original bodywork before being fitted by ourselves. Being made of PVC the front lip is designed to withstand minor abrasions and bumps - it comes as standard with a rubber strip at the front, so it'll continue to look presentable despite negotiating speed bumps, etc.
In addition this RX-7 came with RE-Amemiya original wheels (17 inch) with decent quality, but older tyres. This is not uncommon on low mileage cars but does serve to also confirm the little use the car's had in it's lifetime. There's a Fujitsubo cat back exhaust which sounds better than original without being excessively loud. These comprise all of the exterior & mechanical modifications the car currently carries.
Interior: Being a Type R Special Edition model there are alcantara front seats and small rear seats which make excellent rattle free storage spaces. Note there's no ashtray or cigar lighter. Instead there's a useful padded box where the driver's elbow can rest and a rechargeable LED torch in place of the lighter in the dashboard. This has made the car remain quite "new" in smell too having never been smoked in and the interior also in excellent original condition.
Original equipment includes: Momo original option steering wheel, leather trimmed shift knob, PAS, P/W, AC, ABS, dual oil coolers, front strut brace, unused spare, fitted mats, sports alcantara seats, etc. A Carrozzeria 2 Din 200W Hifi unit is also installed which is also capable of playing USB and iphones, etc. Note that being a post 1996 model this example has the minor engine control improvements that were carried till the end of production in 2002. Namely a different relay pack with a total of 8 relays for boost control (instead of 5 single relays) and a 16 BIT ECU compared to the 8 BIT unit of prior models from 1992-1995.

We removed an older turbo timer from this car, to make the interior more aesthetic. We have a more modern unit which can be supplied free of charge if desired (Note it may not work with a UK alarm / immobiliser, however).
Test Drive: Oil pressure is high, regularly serviced and well maintained with a recent oil change this car runs very sweetly - just an an RX-7 is meant to. We test drove this car briefly on it's way to & from the photo shooting location and found it to drive very well indeed. With an engine that pulls strongly all the way from idle, brakes that have virtually no wear and paintwork in stunning condition.This car belonged to a mature owner since new who liked to have a nice performance car but hardly used it, by the looks of it. With so few stone chips and bodywork in superb condition throughout the car, it's evident this car was always well cared for and not driven hard.
Condition is outstanding. Although there were minor scratches on the original front bumper & splitter these are now all gone, with the new items fitted of course. There are some pin dents on the doors & quarters and one on the front (driver's) wing. These are only small but will be professionally taken care of by a dent removal specialist in UK (Whilst the car is at RK Tuning). Note there is a little bit of touch up paint on the front wing, we may have the entire wing repainted when the car goes in for additional cosmetic changes (As extras the customer has ordered).
RX-7's in as beautiful & low mileage modified condition as this combined at an affordable price are extremely hard to find nowadays. This example's clearly been hardly used. The engine is in fine health with high oil pressure & engine. It's producing an excellent spread of power - perfectly healthy and with plenty of life to give with mileage this low. For further peace of mind, a 12 month warranty will be supplied with this car also covering rotor tips and water seals.
