This stunning RX-7 is amongst the very best examples we’ve found in the last 6 months. With only 23,875 genuine miles from new, this is an example that is in virtually perfect condition combined with an engine having around 45,000 miles before a rebuild is due. Improvements are mostly cosmetic, with just suspension coilover kit, induction kit and exhaust fitted to improve handling and performance making this RX-7 insurance company friendly and entirely usable as a daily driver. For a 1994 RX-7, genuine mileage like this is very low. It’s absolutely genuine too, as the engine bay, lack of brake disc interior wear, etc. serve to confirm.
Stage 1 Performance Improvements: A large bore Fujitsubo Legalis R exhaust system is fitted from the catalyst - back. As it's not a straight through canister type, this is a quieter item, ideal for daily use - yet not restrictive on power. The standard air filter box has been removed and replaced with twin Apexi Dual funnel filters. These are The ECU is a standard item, running around 0.8 Bar boost. These minor mods combined give around 270 bhp - combined with the exhaust. Inside, an Apexi AFC is fitted. This item can be used to fool the ECU into supplying more fuel and therefore increase power. However, as this is not as effective as an uprated ECU, we recommend fitment of an Apexi Power FC and controller, which when mapped in the UK will give 330 bhp, in combination with a boost controller such as a Greddy Profec B II. Wheels Suspension: Nearly new Apexi N1 fully adjustable coilovers are fitted. These are of very high quality and provide supple damping, with improved handling. Quality is on par with Ohlins - they're that good! Wheels are original Payton forged lightweight items of 17" size, with Bridgestone Potenza Grid II sports tyres of size 235/45/ZR17 front 255/40/ZR17 rear. Tyres are around 1/3rd worn at each corner. The rims are in good condition with only minor scratches to the edges of the two n/s items.
Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature even under hard use), original lightweight sports seats, PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, original fitted mats. The original tool kit is complete and unused but doesn't include either the spark plug tool or the optional additional tool tray. A factory option rear parcel shelf is fitted. Note as this is an R II model there are storage bins in the back, complete with a removable vertical trim - so longer items can be carried in the boot when needed.
Interior: A Nardi leather trimmed steering wheel is fitted. It's unmarked. The gear knob is still the original leather trimmed item, still unmarked also. The interior is unworn, as to be expected of a low mileage car and is in completely original condition. Seats are unmarked with no wear, holes, cigarette burns, etc. Being a non smoker’s car since new, there’s no ashtray. Instead, there’s a useful cubby box with padding, ideally placed for resting the elbow on. Note there is no hifi fitted, although the original cage is still in place to make fitment of a new hifi easier. At each corner, there are uprated high wattage speakers complete with remote tweeters. Nothing is required to improve the interior, although it would be beenficial to fit a boost gauge and possibly other gauges to monitor the engine's performance. Test Drive: We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Suspension is supple and sports like, with no rattles, squeaks, etc. from the interior. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried out. There are no faults at all to report at all. With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available combined with double wishbone alloy suspension. This RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without modification. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line. Note that the oil has also very recently been changed.
The exterior is in superb condition with paint work almost completely unmarked. It's been beautifull kept and judging by the condition of the bodywork and underside, always garaged from new. It’s also clear this car's been regularly and meticulously polished and kept away from areas where it could get dinged! As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork to find the following faults to report: The front spoiler has some minor scratches to the nearside edge. There is just one small paint chip on the passenger door. These 2 faults will be repaired as part of our preparation for this car. Auction grade is 3.5 due to the rear quarter on the driver's side having previously been replaced. Being grade 3.5 this is not an accident car. Indeed, when checking carefully, there are no signs of any structural repairs at all. In fact, the fitment of the rear quarter's been so well done, it's hard to spot except to the trained eye. This car's got some of the best condition bodywork we've come across in the last 12 months on any RX-7.We currently have stock of rare original used 1999 facelift front bumpers and indicators, with uprated ’99 front spoilers at just £380.00 + £95.00 for the lights (After Market). Carbon fibre style indicator clusters are also available. This is the best bumper type available, especially as it’s made of polyeurethane and not FRP (Resists stone chips!)
