This RX-7 has been fitted with RE Amemiya Ad Facer II skirts and rear valence panels combined with a D-Speed rear wing. Wheels are original Forged 2 piece Gewalt Evolution items of 17" size, with 4 high performance Falken Zeix ZE512 sports tyres of size 235/45/ZR17 255/40/ZR17. They're in brand new condition - even the alloy rims are still not oxidised from age. Suspension is uprated with nearly new Cusco coil-over suspension.
A large bore Mazdaspeed stainless steel exhaust system is fitted from the catalyst - back. As it's not a straight through canister type, this is a quieter item, ideal for daily use - yet not restrictive on power. In the engine bay are twin Apexi dual funnel oil impregnated induction cones, improving breathing and therefore power output. HKS alloy intercooler pipes are also fitted - as the standard ones are prone to popping off sometimes! The ECU is a standard item, running around 0.8 Bar boost, giving around 280 bhp - combined with the breathing mods. Inside, a turbo timer is installed with double sided tape to the underside of the plastic trim (driver's side). This can be re-sited or removed completely if preferred.
Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature), original lightweight sports seats, PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, original fitted mats. The original tool kit is complete and unused although it doesn't include the optional additional tool tray. Also fitted is Do-Luck rear brace across the space between front rear seats and a Mazdaspeed rear strut brace. A factory option rear parcel shelf is also fitted, however the hinges are not fitted - although these will be supplied with the car, to complete.
We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried out. There are no faults at all to report and the car feels tight and rattle free. With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available combined with double wishbone alloy suspension.This RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without major modification. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line.
The interior is in completely original condition with no faults to report. With no wear to the seats, steering wheel, pedals or gearknob. Further confirming the genuine mileage.Auction grade is 4. Exterior is in superb condition throughout. As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork on this car and found the following faults to report: The front spoiler has some minor scratches beneath the paintwork. We will probably replace this with a new 1999 model original front splitter - as it's a direct inexpensive swap. The roof has some milky laquer and there are pin dents on: driver's door (1), n/s quarter (2). Also there are some scratches to the n/s skirt and driver's door edge. On the rear spoiler there are a couple of small chips which need to be touched in and the original holes for the rear spoiler are showing through slightly. These are mostly minor faults, but each will be repaired as part of the total n present this car to our usual high standards.
This car RX-7 clearly been cherished and hardly used throughout it's life so far!! The wheels look to have only just been fitted. There is none of the usual stone chipping and cracking associated with Fibreglass bodykits. All panels are in truly superb condition, as to be expected from a car with only 19,440 genuine miles! It's rare to find an older RX-7 with such low genuine mileage, as well as a stunning looking wheels and well chosen performance extras. This car presents itself as a jaw dropping combination! Clearly this car has been owned by a fastidiously fussy Japanese person. It's evident it's been well looked after with a lot of time spent selecting the parts to improve it. Total cost of wheels, tyres, exhaust, Induction, ECU aero parts in Japan totals approx. £4,000 - excluding fitting and setting.
The main points about this car are of course it's genuine low mileage, cosmetic improvements and the minor performance enhancements. As this is not an extremely tuned example, it can be used for daily driving is also affordable to insure by younger drivers wanting a special looking Rex!
RX-7's in as beautiful condition as this combined at an affordable price are extremely hard to find, even in Japan. The engine is in fine health with high oil pressure, healthy turbos and perfect starting every time.
