DESCRIPTION

This is a top condition 98 Spec ITR for sourced for a discerning customer who wanted the best example available of the highest standard of condition only Newera is known for sourcing. Specification was to include low mileage, a top condition interior & no underside rust - completely standard, or mildly modified. With Honda Type R's no longer being in production, truly good original examples are rising in price and gaining in popularity as robust driver's cars in Japan. When comissioned, we concentrate on finding the very best and latest examples, to supply to those customers who want the ultimate quality available. The DC2 Type R is considered by the Japanese as the best Integra Type R made, even better than it's replacement, the DC5 Type R and in our experience, the best Type R made of all. With double wishbone suspension at each corner and excellent balance, combined with a race-car like 1.8 V-Tec engine producing 200 bhp driven through a close ratio gearbox coupled to a limited slip differential, this is a seriously capable driver's car! Note that Honda made the replacement DC5 ITR without double wishbone suspension. A cost cutting exercise... To tuners in Japan, the DC2 98 Spec is the best ever made.To provide an increase in power to 200 bhp and also higher torque at low and mid rpm levels the exhaust manifold was re-designed. Suspension and brakes were improved to maximize driving performance & handling. Furthermore, the Integra type R 98 Spec adopted15-inch front disk brakes &14-inch rear disk brakes. ABS was a delete option - but fitted to this example. A new steering wheel was designed by MOMO and High intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with additional option (yellow) driving lights, with over twice the brightness of halogen lamps were introduced. Front and rear bumpers were also re-designed to help modernise the look further. Glass was changed from being of brown tint, to a light blue tint instead. As standard, the engine is making 200 bhp at 7,600 rpm with a V-Tec Zone that sounds & goes much like that of a racing engine from 5,800 - 8,500 rpm, it's not hard to see why this car won so many admirers in Japan. 98+ Spec Factory fitted equipment includes: Limited slip differential, Climate control air conditioning, PAS, electric windows, original "Type R" fitted mats, remote controlled door mirrors (With retract mode on this example), full alcantara black Recaro seats, HID headlights with front fog lights integrated into the light clusters, alloy Type R gear knob and pedals, large diameter discs.Modifications are virtually none at all on this example. Just a 1 DIN head unit with a CD changer located under the passenger seat + Alpine speakers in the doors.Performance Parts to further improve this car are available through www.neweraparts.com We'd recommend fitting a Mugen cold air composite air box (If still available) and K&N oil impregnated air filter, Mugen exhaust and some items to improve the engine bay, such as Mugen Racing oil and radiator cap. Uprated Endless CC-R brake pads will add fade free braking performance - to a level not available from alternative pads sold in Europe, combined with braided hoses to firm brake pedal travel & improve feel. There are many tasteful quality improvements to come for this car, so we'll keep suggestions short. All Honda performance parts currently available in Japan can be supplied by ourselves and fitted in most cases, or for more specialist work the car can be taken to Japan's best specialists for their magic to be worked!Interior is in excellent condition. This has been a non smoker's car. There are no faults to report aside from minor wear to the driver's horizontal seat bolster from age although the seat's in excellent condition. It would appear the last owner of this car was a small Japanese person. The auction grade of this example is 4b which is the highest grade available for a car of this age (Not that two symbols can tell much, really). This example came to us in excellent condition but clearly not as perfect as it could be so then we spent over 25 hours detailing every part of it, inclusive of removing mirrors, lights, indicators, grille, battery, etc. to gain access to hard to reach areas.Even the underside of the bonnet was polished and sealed. We then did the interior too! All this so we'd not only be able to present it as beautifully & well prepared as possible, but also know this car intimately from top to bottom and provide the new owner with the best possible quality of preparation and be able to describe exactly what he may want to change, or not. Exterior condition is excellent: Auction grade was 4B. We noted any minor body faults whilst detailing the car as follows:There was a shallow no-crease dent on the driver's door which we mostly removed by gaining access from inside and pushing gently, with only minor finishing required. This will be completed by a dent removal specialist whilst the car is in the UK. Front splitter was scratched, especially on the nearside corner. To keep costs low, this was touched in rather than having the lip resprayed. Also there is a touched in scratch on the nearside sill. Neither of these faults are now visible unless specifically looking for them. On the passenger door and rear quarter we noted a total of 3 pin dents - which are not noticeable usually, but can be repaired as an option in the UK. Note also that the Type R logos and original Honda badges are faded from age. We would recommend replacing these, which would make the exterior like new again.Interior is also in excellent original condition. Ashtray & cigar lighter have never been used and there are absolutely no marks of damage or staining from smoking inside. The driver's bolsters each have some wear, but this is minor - as should be the case for a genuinely low mileage example. The steering wheel was dried from UV exposure, so we restored this using professional products. It's semi-matt in finish, as a new steering wheel would be - but will become shinier with use. Note the original titanium shift knob is also included and will be shipped with the car, but is not shown in pictures. Interior is in amazing condition considering the car's age. A testament to it's previous owner.   Test Drive: As it's un-registered we only tested this DC2 for around 2km after warming it up. There are no mechanical faults to report with performance. Clutch is fine, with no warping from the brakes. Performance feels VERY strong especially in the V-Tec zone – It’s certainly not lacking in go! Even with near standard tune performance is strong from the 200 bhp this car gives as standard, so with the uprated breathing from the less restrictive Trust exhaust, it's a little more balistic! Clearly this car's been loved and fastidiously maintained. Oil change has recently been carried out and the timing belt was changed at 64,280km (39,950 miles) on 2nd August 2009.Complete with full UK registration, MOT,road tax, 12 month's warranty & yet another full valet this topcondition Integra Type R was sourced at: £8,750 discuss sourcing your own high quality example of a DC2 98 Spec Honda Type R Integra or an alternative.Newera Imports - suppliers of the highest quality examples of the best sports cars from Japan.
