RX-7 Type R Bathurst Twin Turbo - 16 BIT ECU Revision 4 model.
This car was sourced to order for a discerning customer wanting a low mileage late model RX-7 in white, with some good quality conversion work best suited for quick drives on country roads as well as normal road use. This particular example took us 6 weeks to daily searching to find, after looking at many examples - which promised to be good on auction information, but weren't in reality. Condition of this example's excellent and it's loaded with quality extras:
Performance Modifications: Blitz SMIC kit with Samco high pressure hoses, KN cold air induction kit, high flow stainless steel downpipe, Metalit high flow catalyst, RE Wing (304 grade) stainless steel cat back exhaust, Apexi Power FC commander (Currently set to 0.9 Bar for primary turbo and 0.8 bar for secondary), Sanai Works air seperator tank, earthing kit (For improved spark plug performance) . This car is making in the region of 370 bhp. Weighing approx. 1,150kg, this car's power to ratio is firmly in the Supercar league. There's nothing needed in particular (Although a session of mapping for UK fuels with Carl Wayward Rotary would be good for peace of mind), although we'd recommend an engine brace (Strut top mount type) to increase drive train rigidity reliability of the power frame, if lots of hard driving is planned.
Suspension Wheels: Apexi N1 Coilovers. These units are completely easily adjustable for settings, to tune for track or road use. Wheels are Enkei NT03 forged lightweight alloys, fitted with 1/2 worn Dunlop Formula FM901 sports tyres of size 235/40-ZR17 255/40-ZR17. Of course, wheels are of the exact correct offset for RX-7 fitment.
Interior: The rear window has original option tint film, making the rear luggage area not visible from outside. An Addzest Tape/Radio player with CD changer in the back is also fitted and supplied free of charge with this car. Note this has always been a non smoker's car. No ashtray is fitted - only the excellent cubby box, located ideally to rest the elbow on. A Bride VIOS III driver's seat complete with a rear Bride material cover what appear to be Bride FO Type adjustable seat rails and a Sabelt 4 point harness (Std. seatbelts included) are fitted. An ATC Volanti Sportivi steering leather wheel mounted on a bespoke boss kit greets the driver. On the dash, there's a Greddy boost gauge (60mm). The Power FC ECU's hand held controller is neatly displayed with the use of a universal holder. This Controller can also monitor and display up to 8 different parameters, including: Knock, Injector Duty, Boost, etc. We'd recommend fitment of an R Magic bespoke fit PFC holder, as well as a 60mm sized single A pilar pod, so the dash can be tidied. A matching Bride passenger seat can also be sourced (Should switch the existing seat to passenger side, so wear of both seats will be more equal) inexpensively. Styling: A Mazdaspeed rear spoiler is fitted. This appears to attach to the same holes as an original 1996 rear blade Spoiler. We have a standard white 1996 rear spoiler which can be supplied free of charge if desired. Original option ABS plastic side skirts are also fitted. These, not being fibreglass are stone chip resistant too. Note also the original option mud / stone guards. To improve styling, we'd recommend any of the following: 1999 original (Used) front bumper, 1999 front lip (Will also fit existing bumper), 1999 rear spoiler / Auto Exe GT Wing (Same as on our demo car), carbon bonnet, FEED Carbon skirts, RE-Amemiya rear carbon diffuser. For lower spending, you could alternatively fit a set of crystal style front lights and side repeaters. Parts can be shipped with the car to avoid carriage costs, or purchased later. Oil pressure is high, regularly serviced and well maintained with a recent oil change, - this car runs very sweetly - just an an RX-7 is meant to. We test drove this car and found it to drive very well indeed. With no squeaks or rattles at all when passing over bumps, an engine that pulls VERY strongly all the way from idle, brakes that have virtually no wear and paintwork gleaming - from having been stored inside. Note the lack of stone chips, despite the modifications. This car belonged to someone who liked to have power, but hardly used it, by the looks of it.
With so few stone chips and paint in superb condition throughout the car, it's evident this car was always well cared for and never driven hard. Total cost of parts, fitting, suspension, wheels, exhaust and interior modifications are around £6,000 worth in Japan - Showing once again this is a well looked after cared for example.
The auction grade is 4.0 (Auction sheet available). Condition is outstanding. There are only the following very minor faults to report: 3 light pin dents to the n/s quarter, very light pin dents on the passenger door and driver's door, small scratches to the passenger door mirror and scratches to the underside of the n/s/r plastic stone chip / mud guard. These are not worth repairing unless wanting to make the car a concours example. We will source and supply a Mazda touch in paint stick with this car. Note there are also some scratches to some of the wheel edges - the previous owner has touched these in already. Inside, there are only the following minor faults we spotted: 2cm scratch on the rear window tint film, small scratch by driver's door shut - where seat belt buckle has been trapped when closing the door and missing plastic turret covers on rear (Presumably to allow easy access to suspension strut damping adjustment. RX-7's in as beautiful low mileage modified condition as this combined at an affordable price are extremely hard to find nowadays. This example's clearly been hardly used. The engine is in fine health with high oil pressure, healthy turbo and good mapping (Needs checking to make sure it's safe on UK fuels before pushing hard). It's producing an excellent spread of power - perfectly healthy and with plenty of life to give with mileage this low. For further peace of mind, a 12 month warranty will be supplied with this car also covering rotor tips and water seals.
