This is the sweetest and best condition RX-7 we have sourced for stock so far in 2004!
With genuine mileage this low and condition to back it up, this is an extremely special example, in our opinion. Equipped with the following: Original 1999 Mazda front bumper. Rake adjustable alloy GT rear wing. Mazdaspeed 17" alloys, with Yokohama DNA Grand Prix sports tyres on the front of size: 235/40/ZR17 And Yohohama Advan Neuva sports tyres on the rear of size: 255/40/ZR17. Exhaust from the catalyst back - is of high quality and produced by Auto Exe. Induction kit is from RE Amemiya. There is also an earthing kit fitted to help improve spark plug performance. Inside, there's a Momo Race Steering wheel, Trust gearknob, a Billion variable fan controller to help keep the engine cool and a Rev Speed meter - which alows lap times to be logged, etc. RS models come with uprated Bilstein suspension, 4 piston front brakes, twin oil coolers, stainless steel sill plates and alcantara suede front seats. Being an RS model, this example was originally set to make 280 bhp, although with induction kit and exhaust modifications fitted, it's making around 290 bhp in this spec. FD3S - 40XXXX models onwards models have a 16 bit ECU which reacts faster to provide better engine management and slightly more power (280 bhp as std. spec on RS models). Also there are uprated tail lenzes and rear spoiler in addition to some slight engine mods as std. This is a lightweight model built just before airbags were introduced as std. in Japan.
Original equipment includes: PAS, P/W, AC, ABS, Sports Cloth seats, fitted mats, front strut brace, original tool kit (No items are missing, optional tools are not fitted, however), rear strut brace, etc. Inside, there's a Momo "Race" Steering wheel, alloy gearknob and 4 point harness (Fitted for cosmetic purposes). A high quality Kenwood hifi with combined digital equaliser is fitted complete with uprated Carrozeria speakers. These are supplied free of charge with the car.
Note that this has been a non smoker's car since new. The Ashtray looks to have never been used and on this car there is no cigar lighter fitted.
Oil pressure is high, regularly serviced and well maintained, - this car runs very sweetly - just an an RX-7 is meant to. We test drove this car and found it to be like new. With no squeaks or rattles at all when passing over bumps, an engine that pulls strongly all the way from idle, brakes that have virtually no wear and paintwork gleaming as if this were a brand new RX-7 - The last owner clearly cared to the point of obsession about his car. It's as tight as can be, smells much like new inside... We can't believe he sold it..!!
He spent around £1,500 on a new front 1999 bumper - This is the best possible choice in our opinion, as being a polyeurethane item, it won't stone chip of have cracked paint with a car park nudge. Usually the front lip spoiler on 1999 fronts gets scratched - but not so on this example. It's like new too! With so few stone chips and paint in as new condition throughout the car, it's evident this car was always garaged, cared for and never driven hard. Total cost of wheels,exhaust and other mild modifications are around £5,000 worth in Japan - Showing once again this is a well looked after cared for example.
The car is of auction grade 4 (Auction sheet available). Condition is outstanding. Paintwork has no fading at all - once again indicating this car's been garaged since new. Where the original rear spoiler had been mounted, there are 3 holes either side. We will get some special nuts and bolts to fill these holes neatly. There is a tiny scratch on the front bumper, but too small to require paint. Better to leave orignal bumper's colour intact. There is a small pin dent on the o/s quarter. Also there is a tiny pin dent on the passenger's door. That's ALL the rest of the car is like new!! Each of these tiny faults will be taken care of to present this car in immaculate condition upon completion.
On the bonnet, the last owner cut some holes and fitted carbon look louvres to aid under-bonnet cooling. Not to everyone's taste - it would be possible for us to replace this bonnet with a standard one and respray for a low price, or with the car still in Japan, it would be ideal to source and fit a decent carbon or FRP bonnet, or our first choice of an original Scoot bonnet. These are super quality and as original items true works of art. Also we'd recommend getting a carbon rear diffuser.
These mods would make this car look even more amazing - although there's certainly no need for such additions - this will be without doubt one of the most beautiful RX-7's in the UK.
