DESCRIPTION

This is a top condition 98 Spec ITR for sourced for a discerning customer who wanted the best example available of the highest standard of condition only Newera is known for sourcing. In all, it took approx 3 months of searching to find this example. Specification was to include a top condition red interior, optional ABS and SRS airbag(s).
With fuel prices higher and Honda Type R's gaining in popularity as robust driver's cars, we concentrate on finding the very best and latest examples, to supply to those customers who want the ultimate quality available for their budgets. The DC2 Type R is considered by the Japanese as the best Integra Type R made, even better than it's replacement, the DC5 Type R. With double wishbone suspension at each corner and excellent balance, combined with a race car like 1.8 V-Tec engine producing 200 bhp driven through a close ratio gearbox coupled to a limited slip differential, this is a seriously capable driver's car! Note that Honda make the currect DC5 ITR without double wishbone suspension. A cost cutting exercise... To tuners in Japan, the DC2 98 Spec is still the best ever made.
This is a 98 Spec Type X as stamped on a plaque located on the centre console and inside the passenger door shut. Type X in this case denotes black interior trim with red Recaros on a white car. It’s of 1998 + Spec. and so in addition to a quicker steering rack and suspension differences only fitted to JDM models, also carries the following factory modifications introduced in 1998:
To provide an increase in power to 200 bhp and also higher torque at low and mid rpm levels the exhaust manifold was re-designed. Suspension and brakes were improved to maximize driving performance and handling. Furthermore, the Integra type R 98 Spec adopted15-inch front disk brakes 14-inch rear disk brakes. ABS was a delete option - but fitted to this example. A new steering wheel was designed by MOMO and High intensity Discharge (HID) headlights with additional option HID (yellow) driving lights, with over twice the brightness of halogen lamps were introduced. Front and rear bumpers were also re-designed to help modernise the look further. Glass was also changed from being of brown tint, to a light blue tint instead. As standard, the engine is making 200 bhp at 7,600 rpm with a V-Tec Zone that sounds goes much like that of a racing engine from 5,800 - 8,500 rpm, it's not hard to see why this car won so many admirers in Japan. 98+ Spec Factory fitted equipment includes: Limited slip differential, Climate control air conditioning, PAS, electric windows, original "Type R" fitted mats, remote controlled door mirrors (With retract mode on this example), full alcantara red Recaro seats, HID headlights with front fog lights integrated into the light clusters, alloy Type R gear knob and pedals, large diameter discs.
Modifications: The following modifications appear to have been fitted: Trust Airinx replacement filter element and intake, Mugen fan switch and low temp thermostat, Ultra - uprated ignition leads, Fujitsubo Power Getter exhaust, J's Racing (Produced by Racing Gear) high quality coilovers with pillow ball upper mounts, J's Racing front and rear alloy strut braces. Wheels are Volk Racing CE28N of 16" diameter, fitted with near new Yokohama DNA S Drive sports tyres of size: 215/45R16. All modifications are supplied free of charge with the car.
Inside There's also a Honda (Kenwood) CD/Radio hifi complete with speakers inclusive of remote tweeters at the front. Audio equipment is supplied free of charge with this car.
An alarm is fitted, although this is not likely to meet UK insurance requirements as no UK certificate is included. There's a rather clever immobiliser switch for the starter motor located beneath the gear shift gaiter. This must be pressed when operating the key to turn the starter motor. Took us a while to find it ourselves, despite knowing an immobiliser was fitted. Simple - but effective.
Performance Parts to further improve this car are available through www.neweraparts.com We'd recommend fitting a Mugen cold air composite air box and KN oil impregnated air filter, Mugen 4 branch stainless steel exhaust manifold and some items to improve the engine bay, such as J's Racing oil and radiator cap. Uprated Endless CC-X brake pads will add fade free braking performance - to a level not available from alternative pads sold in the UK. We'd also recommend changing the wheel nuts to black annodised, instead of the blue ones currently fitted (At present we haven't yet been given a key for these - but this may follow from the previous owner). All Honda performance parts available in Japan can be supplied by ourselves.
Interior is in excellent condition. This has been a non smoker's car. There are no faults to report aside from minor wear to the driver's vertical seat bolster from age although the seat's in excellent condition. It would appear the last owner of this car was a small Japanese person. Interior has been valetted so the car will be presented in immaculate condition. The original auction grade of this example is 4b (Auction sheet is available) This example is in excellent condition. Checking the bodywork carefully during after washing it we noticed only the following: Scratches to the front lip spoiler, 2 small pin dents on the n/s quarter and one on the o/s quarter (Not easily noticable!). Each of these faults will be repaired professionally as part of UK preparation. On the bonnet there's a light dent from the inside where the bonnet's been closed against the stay. We'll have a dent removal specialist do his best on removing this also. Note that the underside of the car is completely rust free also. Much like a 2 year old car! Note that the N/S "Type R" sticker has some chips from it - can be replaced with a new item, although the cost of this hasn't been included in the price at this time.
Test Drive: We tested this DC2 for around 4km after warming it up. There are no mechanical faults to report with performance. Clutch is fine, with no warping from the brakes. Performance feels VERY strong especially in the V-Tec zone – It’s certainly not lacking in go! Even with standard tune as far as exhaust, etc is concerned, performance is strong from the 200 bhp this car gives as standard, so with the uprated breathing from the Fujitsubo exhaust, it's even more balistic! Clearly this car's been loved and fastidiously maintained. Oil change has recently been carried out.
Complete with minor paintwork to repair the above described faults, UK conversions E-SVA and first UK registration, MOT, 12 month's comprehensive warranty, full valetting and 6 month's road tax, this one off concours condition Integra Type R was sourced at: £9,940 Us to discuss sourcing your own high quality example of a DC2 98 Spec Honda Type R Integra or an alternative.
