Skyline R32 GT-R - Stage 2 Prepared by Garage Saurus!!
This GT-R (R32) has been modified with top performance components to stage 2 to produce a stunningly well prepared car for street use. It's in absolutely outstanding condition throughout and likely to be the very best condition R32 GT-R's for road and occasional track use currently available. This example has been tuned by Garage Saurus – for tractable and easy street use with around 470 bhp! Garage Saurus are one of Japan’s most respected Skyline tuners, if not the best of all. They regularly prepare 8.5 Second quarter mile R32 GT-R’s for their customers and have been tuners for Skylines since 1990. Indeed, they were the original developers of Trust’s T88 turbo. Performance Power Modifications: Turbos are uprated N1 Nismo items. These are larger than standard in size and have uprated steel internals, instead of ceramic - so they can withstand greater boost pressures. Head gasket is replaced with a heavy duty metal item to enable higher boost pressures to be used. Injectors are 550cc HKS items, fed by an uprated in tank fuel pump and a Nismo fuel pressure regulator with braided hosing used to finely tune delivery of petrol. Air is fed in through Apexi Dual Funnel oil impregnated mesh filters – the best available. Air Flow Meters are uprated items also. The intercooler is an HKS unit, complete with HKS piping. An earthing kit helps maximize spark plug performance. The exhaust down pipe is an uprated high flow unit. The standard catalyst has been retained. Cat back, there’s a dual silenced high flow system fitted. This gives quiet, yet unrestricted performance. The ECU is a remapped unit set up by Garage Saurus for Japanese fuels. Boost control is with the use of an HKS valve controller. Switched off – the ECU keeps boost at a steady 0.9 Bar giving around 380 bhp. Selecting low boost on the controller gives 1.2 Bar and around 430 bhp. High setting gives 1.4 Bar and resultant ballistic performance with around 470 bhp. In view of the level of performance this car is endowed with, we would strongly recommend fitment of either an Apexi Power FC or an HKS F Con V Pro 3.2 ECU, with mapping by GT Art in UK. This will enable the car to safely run on UK fuels, at maximum potential.
Drive Train modifications: To handle the performance available, the Clutch has been uprated with a twin plate unit combined with an alloy pressure plate and smaller, lightened flywheel. This unit has plenty of progression for use in normal circumstances. In other words, it feels near new. Note that twin plate clutches are no heavier than standard in application. The glove box has a built in console – in it is a T.S. Dancer Grid 4WD controller. This enables the Atessa 4WD to work with either normal factory settings if switched off (Normally 2WD with drive to the front wheels only when wheel spin or oversteer is sensed), or when switched on – any setting in between RWD only, to 50/50 torque split 4WD. This is useful for applications such as track days, drag racing, or even a spot of drifting.
Brakes have been uprated with high performance Endless CC-X sports pads, providing strong fade free performance. The rear discs are uprated cross drilled items too. Suspension Handling Modifications: Suspension has been upgraded to Bilstein fully adjustable coil over units, - some of the most expensive highest quality items that have been made for Skylines, ideally suited to road use and track sports applications.. These units are fully adjustable for damping and ride height and are currently on a medium, compliant and comfortable settings. Note that damping is easily adjustable from the top of each unit. At the front and rear are Cusco Alloy strut braces. At the rear, there's a Cusco uprated anti roll bar too. This will have the effect of increasing rear end control and giving slightly more oversteer on the limit, say for track use = Fun!
Test drive of this GT-R and could find absolutely nothing amiss. Warmed up carefully, we drove it gently at first – off boost until the water temperature gauge showed normal temperature. It runs and drives perfectly - in keeping with it's low genuine mileage. This GT-R pulls strongly throughout the rev range with a characteristically healthy sound from the engine under load, when it gets to 6,000 rpm it takes on a more aggressive note and pulls harder as a result of the uprated turbos. Boost at 0.9 Bar felt much like a well sorted Stage 1 prepared GT-R. Ideal for road use. With the boost controller switched on at low setting, the performance feels much more alive! At High boost setting, this becomes an indecently fast car. Although we’re used to high performance GT-R’s, with 1.4 bar, this car is absolutely ballistic!!! Handling, braking, clutch, etc. are all perfect. It drives faultlessly. The suspension is firm, yet dampens bumps with compliant comfort. Engine is especially sweet with oil pressure of over 40 kg/cm2 when cold and 25kg/cm2 when up to normal operating temperature - this is a sign of a very good, healthy GT-R engine. Oil is relatively clean although it's due for a change about now, so we'll be carrying this out as part of preparation also.
Cosmetic Modifications: This GT-R carried a complete set of Nismo bodywork improvements consisting of: Bonnet lip, intercooler vents in the front bumper, side skirt spats, rear spoiler lip. In addition note there’s no rear wiper fitted at all (Factory option) and N1 model original headlights! Wheels are colour coded 18” Work Meister S1’s – Some of the most attractive and sought after wheels of all! These are shod with near new Falken Azenis ST115 sports tyres of size 255/35/ZR18.
Comprehensive modifications to this extent and mileage of only 61,997 km (38,463 genuine miles from new!!) is especially low and near impossible to find on an R32 GT-R!There's not much more that could be done to improve this example. Having examined fully tested this GT-R, here are some suggestions as possible further improvements: Oil Cooler and remote oil filter kit, Uprated Apexi or HKS ECU, HKS Kansai Carbon fibre engine cover, vernier pulleys and a Greddy clear cam gear cover, clear front indicators, LED Nismo style rear lights.. Aside from the first 2 items, most of the items we'd put on would be for further improvement in cosmetics. Please see www.neweraparts.com for further ideas!
Original factory equipment includes power windows, central locking, climate control air conditioning, power steering, ABS, Hicas 4WS, Atessa 4WD, remote controlled door mirrors with retract mode, original fitted mats, etc. Note that no privacy glass is fitted – As often preferred by customers.Interior: An Apexi Rev Speed Meter is fitted, also connected to an optional G sensor. This enables not only speed, voltage, revs, etc. to be displayed, but also G force around corners and if calibrated correctly, power output of the car and quarter mile times too. Note that a cable tie currently secures the display, but this will be secured with double sided tape – for a more presentable appearance. Discreetly and tidily mounted in the glove box, next to the T.S. Dancer 4WD controller and HKS boost controller are a Greddy Exhaust Temperature and Boost gauges. Please note the exhaust temp gauge is not currently working. We will examine this to find the fault, but if the unit itself is faulty, or a replacement sensor is required, we will not cover this – Like the Alpine MD/Radio/CD changer controller unit fitted, these electronic items come free of charge with the car and without warranty. Interior is completely unmarked! Seats look as if they're nearly new. Unusual to find an example with an interior this good!!! This has been a non smoker's car. The carpet in the boot has some marks, as shown on pictures. Not very significant, but mentioned in order to give complete info - New original carpet is available inexpensively through www.neweraparts.com
Auction grade of this GT-R is 1 – Indicating extensive modifications. Condition is - as pictures will show - excellent! The front lip spoiler has been colour coded and has some minor stone chips and scratched. Fairly normal on any GT-R! On the bonnet there are some stone chips and 2 small pin dents. The Nismo lip has some paint cracked. Instead of painting these, our suggestion would be to have a carbon lip and vented carbon bonnet fitted before shipping. The cost of repainting these is around £250 included in the could be offset against a new lip and bonnet, which together would cost only £490.00 extra instead of £740.00! – Doing this would also mean no carriage charges would be added. A very worthwhile opportunity. Alternatively, we will repairing the lip and bonnet to perfection, which will also look superb! Remember the standard bonnet’s aluminium, so there’s no weight saving as such – Carbon’s just sexy and what we’d do, hence the suggestion!
On the o/s/f wing the lacquer’s peeled slightly. The rear o/s quarter also has some minor blemishes. The rear light surrounds have turned matt (It's common for these plastics on Skylines of this colour to fade for some reason). Each of the Nismo rear spats have touch up marks too and the front plastic trim on the trailing edge of the front n/s arch has some paint chipped off. Each of these faults will be professionally resprayed to high quality as part of our preparation work. Finally, there's 3 small stone chips on the roof and a small 2cm scratch on the n/s quarter’s leading edge. These will be professionally touched in. On the passenger door there are 2 very small pin dents. These will be repaired by a dent removal specialist. Note also that we found after washing the car thoroughly, the n/s headlight's sealant joining the glass to the plastic body has a small leak, which let in moisture from the jet wash. We'll be re-sealing this too. There's no corrosion inside, so nothing to worry about.
Each of the faults described is shown on a picture with this car’s details. Each will be professionally repaired - so the car will be presented in top condition, to our usual high standards. These faults are described herewith so a full and frank description of the car is given. The majority of the bodywork is excellent throughout. As you'll see from photos of the car underneath, it's very clean there too - with only some denting to the front jacking points (As on nearly all GT-R R32 - R34 models!!) Please note the wheel rims each have some minor scratches to the edges and some very minor blemishes on the lacquer, from age (Not noticeable unless looking for these). The edges can be machined to perfection, to remove the scratches – inexpensively. Note also, the Nismo boot lip is slightly deformed. This is unfortunately a common occurence on many of these. Still looks better on, than not fitted at all!
The colour is a deep red metallic, that has evidently been regularly polished to keep it shiny and in top condition. It's a rare hue and it looks absolutely stunning!! The Work Meister S1 alloys suit this car perfectly too, giving it a classy, awe inspiring look! Parts are liberally spread over this car with the likes of HKS, Apexi, Greddy, Nismo, Work, and more. The cost of all the parts improvements fitted to this car are in the region of £12,500 - £14,000 in all - without accounting for the extra costs of labour!!
