The Z3M coupe is a connoisseur's BMW, described by those in full knowledge of these as the most unique and focussed driving machine since the E30 M3, to come out of Munich. Burkhard Goschel and a small team developed this car to increase torsional rigidity over the convertible Z3M and succeeded admirably. 2.6 times stiffer than the convertible, making it the most torsionally rigid BMW's ever built. Fitted with the S50B32 E36 M3's engine, an M tuned chassis and dinner plate sized brakes, with only a 25% locking LSD as any form of traction control makes the Z3M coupe a driver's car in every aspect, yet one able to take the rigours of daily use in it's stride. This example's been improved in key areas to enhance handling and make the experience of this special engine even more more of an aural delight. Also, download Car Magazine's full road test.Standard Specification: The Z3M was assembled in BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina factory, with the drivetrain assembled in Munich, Germany. Developing 321 bhp @ 7,400 rpm a maximum of 260 ft.lb at only 3,250 the S5032 M engine is a gem and produces over 80 bhp more than the US Z3M version's S52 engine (Developing a paltry 240 bhp). The S50's superior engine included 6 individual throttle bodies, factory polished and ported head with larger inlet valves and stronger valve springs, uprated camshafts and re-tuned continuously variable double vanos valve timing, lightweight pistons and uprated conrods, lightweight (11.3:1 compression ratio) pistons, an additional oil pump and a high flow exhaust system. Engine management was via a sophisticated Siemens MS S50 system. Gearbox is a strong ZF type-C mated to a cooled LSD with 25% lock. Suspension design is a simple combination of McPherson struts at the front and semi trailing arms at the rear, a design carried over from the E30 M3. The only electronic traction assistance here is the weather forecast on the radio. Brakes are 12.4 12.3 inches in diameter front rear respectively, with a special multi-pin design at the front to avoid warping under hard use. ABS is standard equipment. As mentioned above, the body's 2.6 times stiffer than the convertible's - Making this a much better handling car than it's direct relative. Aside from the styling from the roof - back, the arches are wider at each corner, giving a squat stance with wide arches and 4 tail pipes at the rear, giving no illusions about this car's indecent intentions. Note the M styled door mirrors too. Factory alloy wheels are deep dish, especially at the rear, with 225/45/ZR17 front 245/40ZR17 rear tyres. Grip is strong, but with this much power from the rear and fine handling combined with strong braking, this car entices you to drive... With only 1,390kg to propel - expect to be able to steer with both the wheel and throttle at will. Performance interior Improvements: Bilstein sports gas shocks and HR sports springs, combined with ARC (www.autorefine.co.jp) uprated front and rear anti-roll bars, inclusive of rose-jointed drop links. These, combined with ARC strut bars at front rear have helped reduce body roll to virtually nil and dropped the ride height approx 2.5cm at each corner. Ride remains comfortable and the car retains an easily controllable rear-end bias, essentially enhancing the excellent chassis performance the Z3M coupe is known for. Exhaust is a cat-back Stainless steel Supersprint, which provides a gorgeous sound from idle to full revs, without ever getting excessively loud. Brake hoses have been changed for Goodridge braided items. Inside, the hifi's been replaced with a 200W Addzest CD/Radio. A radar detector is also fitted (After market equipment is supplied free of charge). The steering wheel's been changed to a 350mm Momo Jet (Leather and carbon fibre) together with a matching Carbon shift knob. A Original Z3M seats aren't as supportive as needed on a performance car of this calibre (Recaro seat upgrades are a popular modification by Z3M owners), so the previous owner fitted a Recaro SPG III to the driver's side. To compliment this, we're including another Recaro seat for the passenger side - giving the new owner the option of keeping the factory heated leather seat for passenger use, or provide the same level of support as his own. Head lights have been uprated with Bellof HID for main beam (Expensive Japanese high quality brand, not a cheap / unreliable Chinese system).
Original option equipment includes: Air conditioning, glass pneumatically operated moon roof, SRS side airbags, headlamp washers, power (passenger) seat with heater, rear cargo cover. Other features: central gauges, alloy rings around the instruments, factory fitted tinted glass, remote central locking (All original keys are included with this car too) electric mirrors, electric mirrors, ABS, power steering, oval shaped rear view mirror, M coupe sill plates, original fitted mats and more.Condition report: It's clear this car's been beautifully maintained and loved throughout it's life in Japan by it's single owner since new. It's never seen salt and being used on Japan's well maintained smooth and clean roads has none of the moisture trapping dirt, sand and salt that's found on European cars from colder climates including the UK. The complete lack of pin-dents, repairs and underside corrosion (Boot floor is as good as the day it left the factory) make this a gem amongst the breed. The wheels have absolutely no scratches, giving further evidence of the level of care the previous single owner took when using this car. It's also been owned by a non-smoker since new. Judging by the quality of the paint-work and interior this car's been largely garaged when not in use too. This car's been maintained with regular oil changes since new (Last one carried out at 102,000km). Tyres are nearly new at each corner. It drives 100% perfectly with no faults to report.
The following faults are very minor, but in our usual style we're providing full details to give a complete description:A navigation screen was previously fitted to the dashboard and this has left some mild marks on the centre. These may largely dissapear over time, or can easily be removed by a good upholstery specialist. As the Momo steering wheel's been fitted, the airbag warning lamp is on. It may be possible to fit a resistor and reset the SRS system. We carry special resistors in stock for this. Exterior is in top condition. We found just one touched in stone chip on the bonnet and another near the top of the driver's A-pilar. The chrome vent trim on the driver's wing has been broken off. This will be replaced as part of full preparation of this car. We checked this car over for hours. Other than these minor items, there are no other faults to report. As owners of a beautifully restored and modified E30 M3, we absolutely love this BMW - which is why when we came across it, we couldn't resist buying it. It's unlikely it won't sell, but if so - we'll have no choice but to add it to our collection of keepers... :) Look closely at our 80 picture slideshow and feel free to ask for large format pictures of any where you want to take a closer look.
