Fitted with a Mazda Speed Aero Type II front nose, full Border Type 2 side skirts, Pan Speed bonnet and original Fujita Engineering rear diffuser, as well as an unidentified specialist rear spoiler, the overall effect on this car has created a far improved tasteful improvement in looks. Wheels are original BBS Le Mans special edition of 18" size, with 4 high performance sports tyres of size 225/40/ZR18 265/35/ZR18. Suspension comprises original dampers fitted with 25mm lowering springs, which give improved road holding and poise without significant effect on the original ride quality.Exhaust is a large bore stainless steel exhaust system from the catalyst - back. Fitted is a twin Apexi induction kit - oil impregnated mesh, the best filters available from Japan. Also fitted is alloy/silicone intercooler piping. Inside, a Veilside leather steering wheel has replaced the standard item. A Mazdaspeed gearknob, Pivot digital temperature gauge and Addzest 180W MD/CD/Tuner is also included free of charge with this car. Original equipment includes twin oil coolers, keeping oil within the optimum operating temperature, Sports seats, rear seats, PAS, P/W, AC, ABS, fitted mats. The original tool kit is complete and unused. Note: no optional spark plug tool is included. Also fitted is the factory front strut brace along with an aftermarket aluminium rear strut brace, a factory option rear parcel shelf is also fitted.
We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling and acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Engine and mechanical integrity were also checked - There are no faults at all to report.
With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available, with double wishbone alloy suspension on each corner. Only the best! Although the ECU is standard, this RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without major modification. It's making approx. 265 bhp as is. Oil pressure is good. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line. We can supply new Apexi Power FC's with commander for £550 if desired. With the correct mapping and UK fuel 330BHP is achievable in combination with modifications already fitted. Apexi PFC's give increased performance as well as flames to entertain those trying to keep up from behind!
Auction grade is 4. The interior is in excellent original condition with no faults to report aside from 2 small screw holes on the dashboard where something has previously been mounted. We can either repair this, or supply a boost gauge to go on there - for small additional cost. Exterior is in superb condition throughout. As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork on this car and found only minor faults as follows: There are 2 small pin dents on the n/s door. On each of the rear quarters there is one small pin dent. On the roof, there's a 3cm scratch and also a light dent on the n/s section - visible only when looking carefully. On the Mazdaspeed nose, there's a crack on the n/s corner. Also, from use over a long time, the fibraglass bodykit sections aft of each wheel have had the paint eroded. Each of these faults is to be professionally repaired as part of preparation in the UK to present this car in immaculate condition. It'll look even better in the flesh than the photos suggest!
Silver is extremely rare on body-kitted RX-7's - but i this case, combined with the BBS LM's it's created a stunning combination! Clearly this car has been owned by a fastidiously fussy Japanese guy. It's evident it's been well looked after with a lot of time spent selecting the parts to improve it, as well as care to make sure it's well preserved.
