Another rare 323 GT-R Rally homologation model built by Mazda to take on Lancia's Delta Integrales in the early 1990's.... The 323 GT-R had some good success, especially in Japan and Australia, but also in Europe.

We search for these each and every week throughout Japan and usually pick up every example that's in top condition, leaving those which are tired or in poor condition. With just under 500 of these ever made by Mazda purely for Rally Homologation purposes, it's taken us over 5 months to find this example to our exacting standards of condition. As these are very rare cars, they're a car that rarely appears for sale in Japan - and when they do, they're often in poor condition, abused or ex-amateur rally cars, or track cars with no interiors, etc. This example is the very best we've ever come across. A collector's car, for the knowledgeable enthusiast who wants something different, affordable and depreciation proof. Also, being so rare, this car can be registered as a Mazda 323 Turbo, which costs less to insure than the equivalent (And less capable GTI-R Pulsars!).

The 323 GT-R is equipped with Viscous LSD, producing 210BHP as standard. In a car this nimble and light it makes for a very capable car given its strong power and limited-slip 4WD system. Drive Bias is 47% to the front and 53% to the rear - which gives this car a better handling bias than Pulsar GTI-R's. The drive train is known to be stronger than for Pulsar's on these as are the engines, also being built to withstand competition use.
This 323 GT-R is well equipped with: Factory bodykit including large front bumper ready for fitment of FMIC, vented bonnet, side skirts, high level rear spoiler wiht integrated brake light and rear bumper extension. Power steering, Electric windows (Auto operation on Drivers side), Electric mirrors with retract mode, Electically operated glass sunroof, Half Leather - Half perforated Suede (Excellent orginal condition - Note it looks and feels like the same material as used for GT-R seats), Climate control Air Conditioning, Factory fitted Nardi steering wheel, Original front strut brace, integrated driving lamps, full original fitted mats, factory tinted windows, optional wind deflectors rear wiper.

Performance Cosmetic modifications: Uprated lowered suspension with uprated lowering springs, BBS 15" alloy wheels with high grip Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R sports tyres of size 195/50-R15 (Nearly new). Also included are a Boost gauge and idle slabiliser. Note the smoked front corner markers (Standard is orange). A Carrozzeria MOS FET 50W x 4 CD Radio unit is fitted - included free of charge also with this car.Further tuning in the form of a boost controller to give 1 bar of boost would be recommended. Auction grade is 4 (Original Auction Sheet is available). The exterior is in good condition. All panels are very straight and show no signs of previous repair. The faults we found were as follows: Minor bird dropping etch marks on the roof and front offside wing. These are too minor to repair.On the front n/s arch section of the front bumper there's a small graze. Also some minor scratches on the rear bumper. Each of the side skirts (Original) have some scratches too. On the rear section of each quarter panel there is a pin dent. Each of these faults is clearly shown on the car's pictures. If this car is supplied fully prepared, the scratches and pin dents on each side of the car are to be repaired. Roof and front fender are so minor, they don't require repainting. Faults are to be repaired professionally, to supply this car in showroom condition throughout. Note also that the original stickers have aged. We may be able to get original replacements inexpensively if still available from Mazda. Alternatively they could all be removed to give this car a stealth look.. Interior is in excellent original condition. Note this has been a non smoker's car since new. There's a crease in the leather on the driver's seat. Also the gear shift knob is worn and could use replacing. Various knobs are available through www.neweraparts.com including titanium items, etc.
We have test driven this car thoroughly and are pleased to say it not only handles extremely well with minimal body roll, but drives just as it should. There are no worn synchros, no noisy wheel bearings, nothing at all to report! Tyres are nearly new also. From experience, we can tell - this car's never been used hard. It feels very tight indeed, without even a rattle from the interior. We also noted that the rear suspension is adjustable for toe settings, so oversteer or understeer can be dialed in as preferred.
This only the 5th Familia (323) GTR we have ever stocked. In Japan these cars are usually very tired and untidy. When we saw this example we just had to have it! It will be one of just a handful of 323 GT-R's in the UK shortly (See www.323gtx.co.uk for info on the 323 Driver's club!).
Due to this car being over ten years old it will not require an SVA test upon arrival to the UK. Therefore we suggest that to make this car as affordable as possible, we provide the car unprepared. This means that all the owner would need to do is to MOT then register the vehicle, plus carry out the paintwork as described, if preferred.
