This stunning RX-7 is amongst the very best examples we’ve found in the last 6 months. With only 24,563km (15,266 genuine miles) from new, this is an example that is in virtually perfect condition combined with an engine having around 60,000 miles before a rebuild is due. Improvements are mostly cosmetic, with lightweight 17” wheels, aero parts headlights, a high quality suspension coil over kit, intercooler pipes and exhaust fitted to improve handling and performance making this RX-7 insurance company friendly and entirely usable as a daily driver. For a 1994 RX-7, genuine mileage like this is very low. It’s absolutely genuine too, as the engine bay, lack of brake disc interior wear, etc. serve to confirm.
Stage 1 Performance Improvements: A large bore Trust BL exhaust system is fitted from the catalyst - back. As it's not a straight through canister type, this is a quieter item, ideal for daily use - yet not restrictive on power. The standard air filter box has been retained – complete with cold fed air. The intercooler pipes have been uprated with ARC items, ideal – as these allow the car to run higher boost than standard – since the standard pipes tend to pop off with higher boost. The ECU is a standard item, running around 0.8 Bar boost. These minor mods combined give around 270 bhp - combined with the exhaust. Inside, a standard ECU is fitted. However, as this is not as effective as an uprated ECU, we recommend fitment of an Apexi Power FC and controller, which when mapped in the UK will give 330 bhp, in combination with a boost controller such as a Greddy Profec B II. Wheels Suspension: Nearly new Ohlins fully adjustable coilovers are fitted. These are of very high quality and provide supple damping, with improved handling. These are adjustable for damping and ride height. If wanting to harden the ride, you simply adjust the preload at the top of each shock unit. Some people consider these coilovers the very best available out of all coilover kits for an RX-7! Wheels are original Volk Racing forged lightweight items of 17" size, with Bridgestone Potenza Grid / II sports tyres of size 235/45/ZR17 front 255/40/ZR17 rear. Tyres are around 1/3rd worn at each corner. The rims are in good condition with only minor scratches to the edges of the two n/s items.
Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature even under hard use), original lightweight sports seats, PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, original fitted mats. The original tool kit is complete and unused and includes the spark plug tool optional additional tool tray. A factory option rear parcel shelf is fitted. Interior: A Mazdaspeed leather trimmed steering wheel is fitted. An RE-Amemiya boost gauge mounted on a bespoke 52mm steering column gauge pod is fitted. Below the steering column there’s an HKS turbo timer. The gear knob is still the original leather trimmed item, still unmarked. The interior is unworn, as to be expected of a low mileage car and is in completely original condition, aside from an old design of Recaro seat, fitted on a new Bride Seat Rail system. Seats are unmarked with no wear, holes, cigarette burns, etc. There’s no ashtray fitted –Instead, there’s a useful cubby box with padding, ideally placed for resting the elbow on. Note there is a Carrozzeria hifi fitted with CD/Tape/Radio. At the front, there are uprated high wattage speakers complete with remote tweeters. Audio is supplied free of charge with this car. Nothing is required to improve the interior, although it would be beneficial to possibly fit other gauges to monitor the engine's performance. Test Drive: We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Suspension is supple and sports like, with no rattles, squeaks, etc. from the interior. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried out. There are no faults at all to report at all. With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available combined with double wishbone alloy suspension. This RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without modification. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line. Note that the oil has also recently been changed.
Exterior Accessories: An RE-Amemiya Ad-Facer front bumper is fitted. This has been repaired in the past although not perfectly – although various replacements are available, depending on owner’s choice. The rear wing is an original 1999 type – from a newer car (Note the original holes are still there from the older spoiler’s mounting positions). Headlights are original RE-Amemiya Sleek kit. The rear lights are also uprated with 1996-2002 type lenses. The panels are in excellent near new condition with paint work almost completely unmarked. It's been beautifully kept and judging by the condition of the bodywork and underside, always garaged from new. It’s also clear this car's been kept away from areas where it could get dinged! As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork to find the following faults to report: The front spoiler has been repaired at the front and painted with low quality paint. On the n/s wing, passenger door and rear quarter there are some minor pin dents. These faults will be repaired as part of our preparation for this car. Auction grade is 3.5 due to the front bumper having been repaired and the driver’s seat not being original. Note that the headlights have some insulating tape around the edges. Also on the boot lid are some white circular pieces of tape, to cover the original spoiler’s holes. Interior is in excellent condition, although there’s a small ding on the rear trim and also 2 minor marks on the driver’s door trim. Nothing of any consequence – just mentioned for the purpose of giving a complete description!This RX-7's got some of the best condition bodywork we've come across in the last 12 months on any RX-7! Please note: We are able to source new front bumpers from various manufacturers at discount, in addition to carbon skirts, bonnets, diffusers, etc. White is the best colour on which to add carbon accessories, as it contrasts so well – so use this to best effect!
This RX-7 has clearly been cherished and hardly used throughout it's life so far!! It's rare to find an older RX-7 with such low genuine mileage and stunning condition with chosen cosmetic extras. This car presents itself as a jaw dropping combination! Clearly this car has been owned by a fastidiously fussy Japanese person. Total cost of wheels, tyres, exhaust, aero parts, lights, interior accessories in Japan totals approx. £5,500 - excluding fitting. The main points about this car are of course it's genuine low mileage and stunning condition throughout.
