Here at Newera Imports, we seek out the very best examples only. For RX-7's we pay particular importance to mileage and genuine condition. This fine example of an RX-7 has been beautifully resprayed, modified cosmetically and well looked after and covered just 29,485 genuine miles from new!!!
Once you completely understand a rotary, it makes a lot of sense. Vibration is much less than a conventional Piston engine. It's also a much lighter power plant, which makes a lot of sense again. Why carry a heavy weight at the front of a car if you don't have to? The RX-7 was engineered to be very light - even as far as making the jack from aluminium. Suspension arms are made from aluminium and it's a double wishbone design on each corner. Weight distribution is perfect at 50/50. Having no valves, pistons, etc. they're also much more easily tuned to get more power - although it's important to know what you're doing when tuning these. Contrary to general (un-informed) belief, the engines don't expire at low mileage - if well looked after. A standard tune engine should see 70,000 miles - some of the examples we have supplied are nearing 80,000 miles and still going well. Rebuilds are also easy and not as costly as people perceive - available in the UK from £2,000 - which then gives another 70,000 miles plus. Our own RX-7 is driven hard each time it goes out - often on racetracks, but comes back for more each time. After trying every Japanese sports car out here, to us - the RX-7 has stood above the rest as the sports car offering the most entertainment, best handling and most rewards for capable driving.
This example was imported into the UK in September 2004, when it was first UK registered for one of our customers.
He is now wanting to sell - as he's reserved one of our cars (Top Secret GT300 Supra), therefore he no longer needs this RX-7.
Modifications to this example are minimal - to maintain daily drivability and low insurance costs. Only the rear exhaust section is replaced with a large bore Dunk Megaphone system. The rest of mechanical spec. is all as it left the factory.
Original equipment includes: Front and rear original strut braces, PAS, E/W (Auto up/down on drivers side), A/C, 3 channel ABS. The original tool kit is complete and unused includes the optional additional tool tray. Spare tyre is also unused. Note that as this is an R2 model it has no rear seats, instead it has storage bins - the R2 has more legroom than other models, as a result - and this package is also slightly lighter.
To prove the health of the engine, a compression test was carried out on 20th July 2005, which shows compression readings for each rotor as follows:
Front: 7.0, 7.1, 7.0 / 96 psi.Rear: 6.7, 6.6, 6.8 / 95 psi.

This information serves to prove the engine is in excellent health and of genuine low mileage too - although the sheer quality and condition will also serve to illustrate the genuine nature of this car. A full service was carried our recently on 20/6/05 costing £460.00 @ W G T Autodevelopments in Northwich (UK's premier RX-7 specialist) who has confirmed the car's in excellent health, with good strong performance, from it's standard tune - another sign of a very healthy example. Items changed were as follows: skim front brake discs, new brake pads, new oil filter, oil change with nascar oil, new air filter, new fuel filter, nascar gear oil, new wiper blades, etc.
The current owner has spent over £4,000 on improvements since this car was imported less than a year ago. These include: Security Features: Clifford Concept 600 thatcham evaluated category 1 mobile security(anti car-jack)/ convenience system with Total Closure and Turbo Timer. Ice: Pioneer DEN- P4300R EEQ Mosfett 50W x 4 clip of cd head unit with Alpine 3553 4/3/2 channel power amplifier. Boschmann PCH-8800LX V6 Hyper with active crossovers 4/3/2 channel Mosfett final 600W amplifier. Focal 3-way speakers in rear, Focal components and tweeters at the front. Original standard wheels are included, but he has also invested in a set of 18" RSS Kei Racing Alloys with chrome rims. These are just 3 months old. Tyre are Pirelli P Zero Nero 235/40 zr 18's - also 3 months old. Receipts are available to prove expenditure also.
Although the ECU is standard, this RX-7 twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars can be, even without significant modifications. It's making approx. 265 bhp as is. Oil pressure is good, turbos respond instantly throughout the rev range and the engine is giving strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line. From experience having driven many of these ourselves, we know this is a genuine mileage car and that the engine is in superb unworn condition.If even greater performance is wanted, we suggest fitment of an Apexi Power FC and boost controller, combined with simple breathing mods (Induction and Exhaust) which will give an impressive gain in power from 265 bhp to approximately 320BHP! As this is not a tuned example, it is very suitable both for daily driving as a weekend toy, for all wanting a beautiful looking original 3rd Generation RX-7. Alternatively it provides a very original, unmolested, low mileage modifying base.
This RX-7 Type R2 is a genuine example of original auction grade 4.5 (Auction sheet is available), for it's immaculate original condition and extremely low genuine mileage. The bodywork is in amazingly original unmarked condition. Only 2 stone chips exist - one on the front bumper and one on the n/s quarter, near the red reflector. These faults are miniscule, but pictures show them in any case.
MOT: Due October 4th 2005. Road Tax: Due April 1st 2006. An optional 12 month comprehensive warranty is available through ourselves, if required.
If you're looking for the cleanest possible low mileage original RX-7, this has got to be the best available.
