Here at Newera Imports, we seek out the very best examples only. We'd like to have more RX-7's in stock, as these are our favourite of all sports cars from Japan. Unfortunately the very best examples are too few and far between, so we prefer to wait and pick off the best when these eventually come up for sale.. For RX-7's we pay particular importance to mileage and genuine condition. This very rare example of an RZ model RX-7 has been improved solely by Mazda Speed - and is perfectly preserved having covered just 33,040 genuine miles from new.
Once you completely understand a rotary, it makes a lot of sense. Vibration is much less than a conventional Piston engine. It's also a much lighter power plant, which makes a lot of sense again. Why carry a heavy weight at the front of a car if you don't have to? The RX-7 was engineered to be very light - even as far as making the jack from aluminium. Suspension arms are made from aluminium and it's a double wishbone design on each corner. Weight distribution is perfect at 50/50. Having no valves, pistons, etc. they're also much more easily tuned to get more power - although it's important to know what you're doing when tuning these. Contrary to general (un-informed) belief, the engines don't expire at low mileage - if well looked after. A standard tune engine should see 70,000 miles - some of the examples we have supplied are nearing 80,000 miles and still going well. Rebuilds are also easy and not as costly as people perceive - available in the UK from £2,000 - which then gives another 70,000 miles plus. Our own RX-7 is driven hard each time it goes out - often on racetracks, but comes back for more each time. After trying every Japanese sports car out here, to us - the RX-7 has stood above the rest as the sports car offering the most entertainment, best handling and most rewards for capable driving. The Japanese have plenty of very experienced specialists - the UK has a handful only. In order to understand these deeply, we tuned our own to our requirements, so we feel we know these cars extremely well and can therefore consistently hand-pick the very best examples available for each of our customers.
Mazdaspeed Equipment: This RX-7 has been fitted with A full Mazda Speed Type II bodykit consisting of: Front Bumper / Spoiler with integrated driving lights, side skirt and adjustable rear spoiler. Wheels are also original Forged Mazda Speed MS-02's of 17" size, with 4 high performance Dunlop Formula FM901 sports tyres of size 235/45/ZR17 255/40/ZR17. They're in half worn condition only - The alloy rims are completely unmarked - with no grazes from kerbing. A testimony to the care with which this car's been cared for. Suspension consists of GAB uprated gas filled shock absorbers with uprated sports springs. These are set for road use and are therefore comfortable compliant. A large bore Mazdaspeed stainless steel exhaust system is fitted from the catalyst - back. As it's not a straight through canister type, this is a quieter item, ideal for daily use - yet not restrictive on power. In the engine bay the ! The ECU is a standard item, of RZ spec (Makes higher power as standard than other models). This RZ RX-7 is running approximately 0.8 Bar boost, giving around 280 bhp - combined with the breathing mods.
RZ Models are the rarest and most sought after of all versions of 3rd generation RX-7's. Original equipment includes: Twin oil coolers (best for keeping oil within the safe operating temperature), original lightweight alcantara sports seats, alloy throttle and foot rest, Storage bins in the rear with a removable vertical section, original rear strut brace, PAS, E/W, E/M, A/C, 3 channel ABS, original fitted mats. The original tool kit spare wheel are complete and unused and also include the optional additional tool tray. A factory option rear parcel shelf is not fitted. Our parts department www.neweraparts.com is able to source a new one inexpensively. In addition we can also source and fit other performance improvements prior to shipment. An Apexi FC ECU with hand held controller is available at just £550.00 fitted, for example.We test drove this RX-7 thoroughly for handling, acceleration and braking, and found it drives absolutely faultlessly. Engine and a complete mechanical integrity check was carried out. There are no faults at all to report and the car feels tight and rattle free. With a car of such low weight, standard power is plenty with 0-60 in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. Handling is also amongst the very best available combined with double wishbone alloy suspension.For a standard spec. car this RX-7 RZ twin turbo pulls very well indeed - with good idle, etc. It drives much like a new car and performance is excellent, once again reminding us of how good these cars are, even without significant modification. No smoke on start up and it idles well, giving an excellent spread of power throughout the rev range, with strong power from around 2,500 rpm all the way to the red line.
Every sign confirms this is a genuine low mileage RX-7. The engine is very clean for an example of this age. The air pump works as it should (Many are tired and seized by this age), there are no stone chips at all, which confirm this car's been driven carefully and slowly. The interior is in completely original condition too. A high quality Kenwood DSP/ CD unit is fitted, with 47W x 4 power rating. In the back, there's a 10 disc CD changer (Cassette is not supplied with the car - but a new one is inexpensive in UK). Note that speakers are also each uprated with high quality Addzest items. With no wear to the alcantara suede seats, leather rimmed steering steering wheel, these signs further confirm the car's genuine mileage. There are two small cigarette burns on the driver's seat, so these will be repaired as part of our preparation in UK, or if preferred, for a small additional charge we can source and fit an original seat / seat swab to restore this fault. Please note the car doesn't smell of smoke inside nor have any residue at all. Were it not for these 2 small marks, no other sign shows a smoker's used this car.Exterior is in unmarked condition throughout. As with all the cars we stock, to check it thoroughly we washed and checked the bodywork on this car and found virtually nothing to report!!. On the rear spoiler the laquer on the blade itself is slightly oxidised and could do with repainting. That's all we coudl find amis!! This minor fault will be repainted - so we can present this car to our usual high standards.
This RX-7 has clearly been cherished and hardly used throughout it's life! The wheels have no damage at all, there are not even any pin dents to report nor any of the usual stone chipping found on older examples. All panels are in truly superb condition, as to be expected from a car with only 33,040 genuine miles! It's rare to find an older RX-7 with such low genuine mileage, as well as a stunning looking wheels and such a high quality body kit. It's evident it's been well looked after with a lot of time spent selecting the parts to improve it. Total cost of wheels, tyres, exhaust aero parts in Japan, including painting would have cost the single owner of this car approx. £4,500.
The main points about this car are of course it's genuine low mileage, cosmetic improvements and the minor performance enhancements. As this is not an extremely tuned example, it can be used for daily driving is also affordable to insure by younger drivers wanting a special looking Rex!

The engine is in fine health with high oil pressure, healthy turbos and perfect starting every time. It's producing an excellent spread of power - perfectly healthy and with plenty of life to give with mileage this low, before an engine refresh at around 75,000 miles.
