We've supplied just a handful to the UK, as amongst those we usually come across of pre 10 year olds (As there's no model report for these, pre 10 year old examples cannot be imported to UK), we rarely see a real gem. This example's not only is condition outstanding, but the specification's excellent too. inclusive of competition spec suspension, Enkei Racing forged alloy wheels fitted with the grippiest road tyres, HKS SPF induction, Stainless exhaust and more! . Original Equipment: Optional ABS and driver's SRS leather bound steering wheel are fitted. Glass is of blue-green tint, at the front, with privacy rear glass giving a complimenting contrast to the colour of the car well. Note there are wind deflectors also fitted. This has been a non smoker's car. The interior trim's unmarked. Standard central locking, electric mirrors with retract mode, air conditioning, power steering, electric windows with auto up/down on driver's side, rear wiper, original fitted mats are also fitted. This car has a funky feature with a switch to control maximum boost (Currently running std. boost only) for when someone less skilled needs to drive it. Having covered 69,721 miles from New, it's been beautifully maintained with regular oil changes every 3,000km and a timing belt change at 58,150 miles less than 2 years ago. Exterior includes Facelift model clear front indicators and rear light clusters, side skirts and factory fitted driving lights. A full set of original Toyota Glanza V Turbo emblems and stickers will be supplied if the stealthier look the car's equipped with isn't preferred!
After Market Interior Equipment: A Panasonic 45W x 4 unit with CD and radio is fitted. Note also the Rigid Turbo & oil temp gauges neatly installed on the centre console, turbo timer and alloy pedal covers also fitted.
Performance equipment: A Full Kakimoto Racing Stainless Steel Exhaust System (Standard Catalyst is retained in the Turbo Elbow for Ease of MOT) combined with an HKS SPF Induction kit are fitted. The engine has much improved response and performance with the improved breathing generated by the removal of the standard, restrictive parts. Engine sound is also much improved with the 1.3 16V Twin Cam Turbo sounding powerful even at idle, although not obtrusively loud on the Motorway, for example. In standard form the 4E-FTE Engine develops 133BHP at 6400rpm, using only 0.65 Bar boost. This example is developing in the region of 140BHP with improved breathing. A Rigid boost gauge is already fitted to allow close monitoring of the boost level. Oil has just been changed too. The brakes have recently had new Project Mu performance pads fitted, which give excellent fade free performance. This car is suprisingly fast, and will undoubtabley shock many hot hatch drivers once rolling on UK tarmac...but much more is available!
With the addition of a boost controller or adjustable turbo actuator and an HKS fuel cut defencer, 160BHP is easily and safely achievable. These parts are readily available from www.neweraparts.com and fitting is available through our specialist performance tuning workshop on arrival. We can even supply a front mount intercooler kit, dump valve, uprated turbo, injectors and much more, to bring performance to around 250 bhp!
Wheels, Suspension & Brakes: To make use of the increased driveability the suspension has been uprated with Kayaba competition spec. damping adjustable suspension. Front & rear strut braces are fitted as standard, providing improved cornering rigidity whilst at the front, a thicker anti roll bar helps induce more controllability and lift off oversteer fun! The factory wheels have been replaced with lightweight, forged and very strong Nekei Racing 15" alloy wheels, complete with 4 nearly new Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R high-sports tyres of size 195/50 R15. These are some of the best road legal sports tyres sold. Brakes are in excellent condition with low wear to discs. Project Mu high performance pads are fitted.
Auction grade is 4. This confirms the outstanding condition of this 1996 model. Over £3,500 (equivalent) has been spent in Japan by the last keeper in improving this Starlet Glanza V to the specification detailed above.This example is the nicest we've found in 6 months through regular searching in Japan's best auctions - which is of course why we bought this example for stock.
Faults have been described to give a full and accurate description of this car's condition: There's a key scratch along the driver's door and rear quarter, so these and the chip of paint off the rear bumper centre will be repaired as part of full preparation.
Test Drive: Car drives with no faults, good gearbox, brakes, firm yet supple suspension with excellent tight handling (Boost has never been upped from standard - good for a long engine life!) We did note that the clutch is nearing the end of it's life, so we are fitting a TRD upgraded clutch unit as part of the full UK OTR Package.
Note also there is no corrosion at all to the underside - This car's never seen salt and looks to have always been garaged. no significant wear to seats, switches, mats, etc. and low wear to discs, it is evident this car's been stunningly well looked after!!
Clearly a cherished example all it's life, paintwork is both immaculate and very smooth-clearly having been polished regularly. If you can trust Newera's reputation, you'll know this is the best you'll come across. But hurry - Once it's gone, it'll be very difficult to find another this good again for the price!
